I don't even know how to rate a book like this? It's kinda like "ah, no, your story wasn't good enough for me, but thanks for trying". Which obviously isn't the case. It's a horrible story, but well told I suppose.

I am very impressed by her attitude of not wanting to be reduced to a weak victim abused by a horrible monster, but instead pointing out that while everything that happened was wrong, the criminal was still human and had his good sides as well as the many bad ones. I'm appalled by the response this attitude has generated from the general public: and I've read that in her most recent interviews she said that she was not comfortable with other people and had stopped studying. I just can't believe that people are willing to turn on someone like her just because she doesn't fit her narrow definition of a victim.

I've been wanting to read this book for a while, and I'm happy she got to tell her story her way. I do hope everything works out for the best for her in the end, and that people stop being assholes.

386/63-¨Ενα πολύ παράξενο ομολογουμένως βιβλίο . Η Νατάσα περιγράφει τον απόλυτο εγκλεισμό της από τον απαγωγέα της με πολύ ιδιαίτερο τρόπο. Σου σχηματίζεται η εντύπωση πως κατά κάποιο τρόπο λειτουργούσαν σαν συγκοινωνούντα δοχεία, αυτός ικανοποιούσε τις ανασφάλειες του κι αυτή είχε αποδεχτεί παθητικά το γεγονός ότι η ζωή της εξαρτιόταν από αυτόν . Τον έβλεπε και τον αντιμετώπιζε σαν "οικογένεια" της. Όπως η ίδια περιγράφει , μεγαλώνοντας της δόθηκαν αρκετές ευκαιρίες να δραπετεύσει , αλλά δε τις εκμεταλλεύτηκε ανάλογα, είτε από υπερβολικό φόβο, είτε από αγοραφοβία , είτε γιατί εκ των προτέρων είχε αποδεχτεί ότι κάθε της προσπάθεια θα ήταν αποτυχημένη

How do you begin to rate or review something so personal?

This book was hard to get through, not only because of the content but also the writing style. It was at hard times to follow and she seemed to contradict her experiences throughout. She spends multiple pages vehemently denying she has suffered from Stockholm syndrome all the while saying how evil but kind her kidnapper was.

A huge portion of the book is dedicated to her "difficult" childhood. From someone who suffered so much later it was rather strange to hear some of her complaints of her childhood. "I was now 5 years old and I had gone from being a cheerful toddler to an insecure, taciturn person who no longer liked life."

I cannot begin to imagine the difficulty of writing of such experiences so I don't want to sound harsh but many things felt glossed over about her times in captivity.

I'm not going to give a star rating to this book simply because this is a true story and is not meant to be entertaining.
I feel a lot of respect towards Natascha and commend her for her bravery and strenght. This was such a difficult read but one that needs to exist so people can know and fight against such horrible situations and crimes in the future.

Inúmeras buscas foram realizadas pela polícia, sem resultado. Devido a problemas de relacionamento com a menina, sua família chegou a ser acusada de ter tramado o sumiço da garota.O mistério se dissolveu de forma surpreendente. Após passar oito anos sob o poder de um desconhecido, vivendo em um porão de quatro metros por três de largura, Natascha conseguiu fugir. Em depoimentos à polícia, contou que seu captor, o também austríaco Wolfgang Priklopil, a maltratava e a obrigava a realizar tarefas domésticas. Seus únicos momentos de lazer eram assistindo televisão, ouvindo rádio e lendo.Do cativeiro, restaram apenas lembranças e um diário escrito ao longo dos anos, que serviu de base para o livro. Em 3096 dias, Natascha conta como aprendeu a viver com seu captor e tenta encontrar uma justificativa para seu rapto e maus tratos. Recensione Film + Libro

Prima di iniziare questa recensione voglio fare una delle mie solite premesse. Appena venuta a conoscenza di questo caso o meglio della sua risoluzione ero parecchio scettica e provavo una certa antipatia per Natascha Kampush, il fatto che non fosse fuggita prima, che avesse comprato la casa del suo aguzzino e che non sembrasse troppo ostile nei suoi confronti mi confondeva, nel 2006 però ero più piccola di ora e quindi non mi ero soffermata a pensare troppo al caso, avevo solo visto questa ragazza in tv così fredda e distante e sentito le voci sul suo conto o i commenti e articoli scandalistici facendomi tutta un'altra idea di questo caso per poi scordarlo e non pensarci più. Quando però mi sono ritrovata di fronte,in un mercatino dell'usato, il libro sul suo sequestro non ho resistito e l'ho comprato. Dopo parecchio tempo l'ho finalmente letto e posso quindi darvi la mia opinione sul libro e sul film tratto da esso.
Questa testimonianza mi ha molto toccato e tutti i pregiudizi e i cattivi pensieri che avevo fatto a quei tempi sono scomparsi per lasciare posto a stima per una ragazza che è riuscita a sopravvivere a un'esperienza simile e dispiacere per lei e per la sua adolescenza rubata. Andiamo però con ordine. Sicuramente il caso sarà ormai noto avendo sconvolto l'opinione pubblica se così non fosse vi basti sapere che il caso Kampusch nasce il 2 marzo del 1998 quando la piccola Natascha di appena dieci anni scompare improvvisamente mentre percorre il tragitto che la separa dalla scuola che frequenta. La scomparsa colpisce molto non solo la famiglia ma anche gli agenti che si ritrovano ad indagare, inizia una maxi indagine che ahimè nonostante l'impegno non porterà alcun risultato, la piccola rapita da Wolfgang Priklopil rimarrà prigioniera nella cantina della casa dell'uomo per 3096 giorni e solo il 23 agosto del 2006 la giovane ormai maggiorenne riuscirà a riottenere la sua libertà fuggendo dalla prigione in cui era stata confinata per tanti anni. Il suo rapitore si suicidò dopo la fuga buttandosi sulle rotaie. Questo libro è quindi la testimonianza di quel rapimento, di quel dolore provato e fa veramente male... Natascha fin da piccola è stata una bambina fragile, senza troppi amici poichè timida, vittima di un divorzio in famiglia che la rese ancora più triste e sola, colpisce quidi come questa bambina così fragile di carattere sia riuscita a diventare forte e a sopravvivere, a diventare adulta senza cedere alla disperazione della situazione. Nonostante la costante solitudine e le torture psicologiche che viveva costantemente giorno dopo giorno ce l'ha fatta e ha avuto il coraggio di raccontare la sua terribile vicenda che è già abbastanza difficile da leggere quindi non immagino quanto lo sia da scrivere. La violenza subita da questa ragazzina è orribile e non l'augurerei mai a nessuno, neanche al mio peggior nemico. Questa testimonianza è toccante, straziante e in qualche modo ricca di speranza, la speranza di una donna che è intenzionata a riprendersi la sua vita e non darla vinta al suo rapitore, alle avversità. Non so quindi cosa dire per descrivere l'emozione provata nella lettura, mi sentivo prigioniera con lei, mi sembrava di impazzire a mia volta pensando a cosa avrei fatto IO al suo posto, se devo essere sincera non credo che sarei riuscita a sopravvivere, non credo riuscirei mai a passare tutto quello che ha passato questa povera ragazza, ritrovarsi prigioniera a 10 anni, senza sapere nulla della mia famiglia, dei miei amici... sarebbe terribile solo a pensarci! In questo libro oltre alla testimonianza potrete vedere anche foto e video della casa degli orrori (perchè orrori sono stati!), di Natascha bambina, della zona ecc il tutto tramite utilissimi codici QR inseriti alla fine di ogni capitolo. Posso dire che questo libro è consigliatissimo, tutti dovrebbero leggerlo per riflettere perchè al posto di Natascha poteva esserci chiunque, poteva esserci una nostra amica, una nostra parente ma soprattutto potevamo esserci noi! Vi invito quindi a leggere e procurarvi questo libro sperando che i casi terribili come questo possano un giorno divenire un triste e tragico ricordo.


Come potrete immaginare da questo bestseller è stato anche tratto un film intitolato "3096 Tage" (conosciuto anche solo come 3096) il film al momento non è ancora uscito in Italia ma si può facilmente reperire sul web in lingua originale o in inglese. Avendo letto il libro ho voluto e dovuto vedere il film che stranamente mi è piaciuto, per quanto possa piacere un film tratto da una terribile storia vera. Se solitamente critico tutto, dagli attori alle scene questa volta non lo farò. La regista Sherry Hormann aveva l'arduo compito di riassumere in neanche 2 orette una storia bella lunga e intensa e c'è riuscita egregiamente, solo una scena non è stata inserita ovvero quella dell'incontro tra Natascha e l'amico del rapitore, momento che è stato riportato più volte nelle interviste e anche al fondo del libro , questa piccola assenza mi ha fatto un po' storcere il naso ma nonostante questa piccola pecca il resto è eccellente. Gli attori sono stati abilissimi, soprattutto Antonia Campbell-Hughes nel ruolo di Natascha adolescente/adulta che è stata eccezzionale e ha reso perfettamente le emozioni che si dovrebbero provare in tale circostanza, anche Thure Lindhardt nel ruolo di Wolfgang Priklopil mi ha molto colpita, Thure è riuscito a rendere la doppia faccia e la doppia vita di Priklopil, questi due attori sono stati bravissimi e hanno formato un duo vincente. Nel film oltre alla condizione di Natascha e alla sua prigionia possiamo vedere alcune scene sulla vita di Wolfgang, queste scenette sono molto utili e riescono non solo a variare un po' la vicenda (se tutto si fosse focalizzato su Natascha sarebbe stato tutto pesantissimo e anche noioso) ma anche a mostrare come i mostri possano avere una doppia faccia, assistiamo quindi a scene con la madre e la nonna e vediamo un uomo timido, riservato e anche un po' mammone, un uomo molto diverso da quello che rapisce e tortura una ragazzina. Leggere di questa sua "normalità" sul libro è già sconvolgente ma vederla in qualche modo riprodotta in un film colpisce ancora di più. Nel film vi sono anche delle scene di rapporti sessuali tra vittima e carnefice (anche se non tantissime, giusto 2 o 3). Queste scene non vengono descritte nel libro poichè è la stessa Natascha a chiedere un minimo di privacy almeno su quel punto di vista, non è dato sapere se siano vere o no, Natascha non ha smentito e alle domande se siano avvenute ha fatto capire che sono ricostruzioni di avvenimenti realmente accaduti, questo ci porterebbe quindi ad affrontare voci più o meno serie sulla possibilitò di gravidanze da parte della ragazza, sul suo amore per l'uomo ecc... non volendo però cadere nella rete del gossip di questo genere posso dire che nel film sono servite a rendere più vivo il dramma della giovane e si sono ricollegate anche al tentativo di suicidio della Kampusch tentativo che viene mostrato nel film e inserito anche se in pochissime righe nel libro. Se la scena della prima volta "rubata" sia la causa scatenante di questo tentativo maldestro non possiamo saperlo. Molte cose rimangono oscure nella vicenda, molte voci circolano, se siano vere non lo so, posso però consigliarvi di vedere il film e leggere il libro perchè meritano davvero tanto e sono utili a riflettere su questa terribile vicenda.

Natascha Kampusch was 10 years old in 1998 when, walking to school alone for the first time, she was grabbed and thrown into a white delivery van. She was kept prisoner, mostly in a “dungeon” underground in her kidnapper’s house for 8 years before she escaped.

This is the first kidnapping story that I remember being so blown up in the media. (Sadly, there have been a number of them since). For those who are squeamish about sex/rape, she leaves this out; it doesn’t actually sound like there was a lot of that, anyway. There is plenty of physical abuse, though.

It is a translation, so there is the occasional awkward phrase or sentence, but I was certainly interested in her story. I think it gave a really good insight into how dependent she was on her kidnapper, especially since she was with him during those formative years between the ages of 10 and 18, and why she might have mixed feelings towards him. I feel so badly that she was not always treated well after she escaped due to those mixed feelings towards her former captor.

Something interesting about this book that I’ve not seen before (though I don’t have a Smartphone, so couldn’t take advantage of them) were the QR codes for more information at the end of each chapter. The book was published in 2010, so it’s possible the codes may not work anymore. However, as with many true crime stories I read, I had to look up more information online to find out how she’s been doing since the book was published.

Nachdem ich vor kurzem Natascha Kampuschs erstes Buch "3096 Tage" gehört habe und dieses mich sehr berührt hat, wollte ich unbedingt ganz bald ihr letztes Buch, das in 2016 erschienen ist, lesen. Ein Leben in Freiheit, zehn Jahre nach der Selbstbefreiung, doch wie erging es Natascha wirklich? Was hat sie erlebt, mit was musste sie sich auseinandersetzten?

Diese und noch mehr Fragen hatte ich im Kopf und sie wurden allesamt in diesem Buch beantwortet. Natascha Kampusch redet sich einiges von der Seele und erzählt über ihre zehn Jahre Freiheit, die gar nicht so frei, schön und glücklich waren, wie sie es sich vorgestellt hat und wie ich es ihr gewünscht hätte.

Das Buch gibt eine gezeichnete, enttäuschte, verletzte und doch immer und immer wieder positiv gestimmte junge Frau wieder.

Ich will hier nicht den ganzen Inhalt preisgeben, obwohl das meiste bereits aus der Presse bekannt ist, wenn man sich mit "dem Fall Kampusch" bereits eigenständig befasst hat.

Wichtig ist mir jedoch zu sagen, dass alle dieses Buch lesen sollten. Vielleicht wird den Hassern, Zweiflern, Verschwörungstheoretikern, Neidern... klar, was sie Natascha in all den Jahren angetan haben, und dass sie sie, obwohl in Freiheit, wieder hinter dicke Mauern gesteckt haben.
Es fällt mir sehr schwer in Worte zu fassen, wie sehr leid mir das alles tut, was Natascha nun von 18 Jahren bis 28 Jahren in Freiheit alles erleben, durchleben und ertragen musste! Nicht, dass ihr ihre Kindheit und Jugend vom Täger gestohlen wurde, nun ist sie auch eines jungen Erwachsenenlebens beraubt worden. Man lässt sie nicht zur Ruhe kommen! Jeder Mensch ist anders, jeder pocht auf seine Individualität, doch wenn es um Natascha Kampusch geht, hat jeder eine vorgefestigte Meinung, ein Bild vor Augen, wie sie aussehen und wie sie sich verhalten müsste, damit man sie endlich akzeptieren könnte.

Ich sage, LASST DIESE JUNGE FRAU LEBEN, SO WIE SIE WILL! Lasst sie sich entwickeln, Erfahrungen sammeln, ihre Möglichkeiten ausloten, ohne dass sie in ein Land auswandern muss, um endlich als normaler Mensch angesehen zu werden. Sie wurde aufgrund einer schrecklichen Tat berühmt, auf die sie und jeder andere gerne verzichten möchte! Das kann sie nicht ausradieren. Doch wenn sie es schafft, diese Vergangenheit zu überwinden, sollte es uns allen möglich sein, sie ihre eigene Zukunft gestalten zu lassen.

Ich habe den Film zu ihrer Geschichte nicht gesehen. Nachdem ich nun dieses Buch gehört habe, werde ich aber auch davon absehen. In einem großen Abschnitt erzählt Natascha Kampusch, wie die Filmrechte gekauft wurden und welchen Kampf sie mit Bernd Eichinger hatte, der ihr Buch "3096 Tage" verfilmen wollte. Alles war auf einem guten Weg, bis Eichinger plötzlich im Januar 2011, ohne den Film vorher vollendet zu haben, gestorben ist. Sehr zum Leid von Natascha Kampusch, denn Sherry Hormann, die dann die weitere Regie führte, hat dem Film eine ganz andere und nicht abgesprochene Note gegeben, mit der Natascha letztendlich sehr unglücklich war. Dieser Punkt hat mich sehr getroffen! Wenn man sich versucht vorzustellen, man hätte das alles durchlebt, was Natascha widerfahren ist, und jemand bringt dieses auf die Leinwand, ohne dass es ihn wirklich interessiert, wie es auf die betroffene Person wirkt und ob sie sich damit wohlfühlt, da frage ich mich dann wirklich, sind wir nur noch auf Sensation, Gier und Persönlichkeitsverletzungen aus? Ist es das, was die Masse sich wünscht? Voyeure zu sein?

Zum Hörbuch:
Auch hier kann ich das Hörbuch absolut empfehlen! Mit viel Empathie in der Stimme, gelingt es Sascha Icks dem Hörer Nataschas Worte näher zu bringen.

Fazit:
Es ist gut, dass Natascha Kampusch in diesem Buch auf einige Vorwürfe und ihr Bild in der Öffentlichkeit eingehen konnte. Ich wünsche mir, dass sie sich mit diesem Buch befreit und das Schlechte ziehen lässt. Ebenso wünsche ich mir, dass einige Menschen aufwachen und darüber nachdenken, wie verletzend Taten und Worte sein können.

An dieses Buch habe ich mich sehr lange nicht getraut. Handelt es sich doch um eine wahre Entführungsgeschichte, die die Autorin selbst erlebt und glücklicherweise überlebt hat!

Ich war damals 28 Jahre alt, als Natascha Kampusch es geschafft hat, sich selbst zu befreien und dem Entführer zu entkommen. In der Presse habe ich viele Nachrichten darüber verfolgt und auch das eine oder andere Interview mit Natascha im TV gesehen. Es war schmerzliches und zugleich ein frohes Ereignis, das meine eigene Gefühlswelt durcheinandergebracht hat.

Wie hatte sie diese 8 Jahre gelebt? Was war ihr zugestoßen? Wie hat sie es geschafft, sich zu befreien? Wie wird sie jetzt als Volljährige, deren Kindheit und Jugend gestohlen worden ist, die Freiheit erleben und bewältigen?

Diese Fragen und noch mehr geisterten seit Jahren in meinem Kopf herum und endlich wagte ich es, mich ihnen zu stellen. Sehr gut ist, dass das Hörbuch Natascha Kampusch nicht selbst eingelesen hat. So bekommt man die nötige Distanz zum Erzählten. Ansonsten hätte ich es wahrscheinlich nie gewagt, diese Geschichte zu hören.

Natascha nimmt uns mit in ihre Kindheit und das schwierige Leben durch die Trennung ihrer Eltern. Vieles hat sich verändert und aus dem einst fröhlichen und beschwingten ist ein in sich gekehrtes und zurückhaltendes Kind, voller Selbstzweifel, geworden. Und genau in dieser Gemütslage geschah das Unglück ihrer Entführung.

In diesem Hörbuch erfährt man, was damals passiert ist und wie Natascha es geschafft hat zu überleben. Ich ziehe meinen Hut vor so viel Lebens- und Überlebenswillen und dieser immens starken Persönlichkeit, die sich in 3096 Tagen nicht hat brechen lassen! Die Dunkelheit, Trauer, Hunger, Misshandlungen... stoisch erduldet, trotz mehrfacher Selbstmordversuche dennoch an sich geglaubt und sich das Ziel gesetzt hat, wenn sie erwachsen ist, zu fliehen und ihr eigenes Leben endlich in die Hand zu nehmen. Sie beschreibt sehr nachvollziebar, wie das äußere Gefängnis sich auch in ihrem Kopf zu einem inneren ausgeweitet hat. Das permanente einträufeln der Lüge, ihre Familie wäre nicht bereit ein Lösegeld für sie zu bezahlen und dass sie sie nicht genug lieben würde, um sie zu befreien, schmerzte mich so sehr. Umso beeindruckender finde ich, dass ein so kleines, 10-jähriges Mädchen, dem ihr Glauben und das Vertrauen in ihre eigene Familie so grausam genommen wurde, nach all der Zeit als Erwachsene wieder ins Leben zurückgefunden hat.

Ich war sehr niedergeschlagen, als ich hörte, wie wenig man sich auf seine Mitmenschen verlassen kann. Als Natascha Kampusch auf ihrer Flucht Passanten ansprach und um Hilfe bat, wurde ihr diese verweigert. Mit viel Glück hat eine Frau, in dessen Garten sie dann letztendlich geflohen ist, zu ihrer eigenen Sicherheit die Polizei gerufen. Also nicht, um der jungen und ausgemergelten Frau vor ihr, die um ihre Hilfe gebeten hatte, zu helfen, sondern um sich selbst zu schützen.

Ich bewundere die geistige Reife und das Können, das Erlebte so distanziert zu betrachten, wie die Autorin es tut, und dabei den Täter nicht in Gänze zu verurteilen und ihm den ganzen Hass entgegenzuschießen, den er eigentlich verdient hätte. Er war 3096 Tage ihre einzige Kontaktperson und Natascha Kampusch schafft es, kein verhuschtes Opfer zu sein. Ein bewunderswerter Charakterzug!

Zum Hörbuch:
Als Hörbuch absolut empfehlenswert, da die Sprecherin Elisabeth Schwarz ihre (schwere) Aufgabe sehr gut gemeistert hat und der Geschichte dadurch die nötige Distanz gab. An manchen Stellen hatte ich das Gefühl, ein kaum merkliches Zittern in der Stimme von Elisabeth Schwarz zu hören. Absolut verständlich, da Natascha Kampuschs Erfahrung sehr am Herzen rührt.

Fazit:
Ich bin sehr froh, die aus den Nachrichten verfolgte Geschichte, um den persönlichen Blickwinkel der Betroffenen selbst, gehört zu haben. Zu erfahren, was sie erzählen möchte und ihr damit zu zeigen, dass sie nicht vergessen ist! Dass es wunderschön ist, dass sie überlebt hat und ich ihr eine wunderschöne Zukunft wünsche, die sie ihre Vergangenheit und die Trauer über die verlorene Zeit, vergessen und überwinden lässt.

Synopsis: This book tells the true story of Natascha's kidnapping when she was only 8 years old on her way to school, from her point of view. The beginning tells of her trying to figure out the purpose of her abduction and why, out of everyone, she was kidnapped.

Living in a dungeon as a child made her made her lonely and at the start she looked forward to the kidnapper's presence, often begging him to play games with her to keep her company. Left by herself for days on end, any connection to the outside world such as via radio, and anything to keep her mind pre-occupied such as the books and TV programmes the kidnapper brought her brought her a little bit of solace.

As the years went by and Natascha's hope of being rescued diminished, the kidnapper became more vicious and repeatedly abused her, often leaving her to the brink of starvation. Any time Natascha was let out of her dungeon to do household chores around the home, she was closely monitored.

Towards the end, Priklopil, considering a lifelong future with Natascha, ended up taking her outside of the house a handful of times to run errands with him. The amount of times she comes close to freedom and her first encounter with people other than Priklopil leaves you hanging on.

My Opinion: I can only imagine the pain and suffering that Natascha must have endured, having 8 years of her life taken away from her. The book doesn't do her story justice. At times links were missing, and as the reader you often felt the emotionless state she must have felt being trapped away. I have since done some reading online to see pictures of her dungeon and read police reports.

This is not the kind of book that has a fairy-tale ending, this is a diary - the bare telling - of Natascha's kidnapping.

Natascha Kampuschin sieppauksesta ja vankeusajasta kertova omaelämäkerrallinen teos on pakostakin jotenkin sensaationhakuinen, rahastuksenmakuinen kirja. Luen tällaisia harvemmin, mutta muistan, miten seurasin Kampuschin paosta kertovia uutisia vuonna 2006 suurella mielenkiinnolla. Media tietenkin takertuu heti tällaisiin dramaattisiin ja karmiviin tarinoihin, mutta Kampuschin ja muiden vastaavassa tilanteessa olleiden tarinat ovat myös innoittaneet kirjailijoita - viimeisimmäksi varmaankin Emma Donoghuen loistavan Room-romaanin muodossa.

Wolfgang Priklopil sieppasi 10-vuotiaan Kampuschin koulumatkalla ja piti tätä vankina lähes 8 ja puoli vuotta. Aluksi Kampusch eli lähes täydellisessä eristyksessä muutaman neliön kokoisessa kellarityrmässä (video tyrmän sisäänkäynnistä ja varsinaisesta huoneesta on aika karua katsottavaa). Sieppaaja alisti tytön täydellisesti valtaansa sekä henkisellä että fyysisellä väkivallalla. Loppuvuosina Priklopil muuttui niin itsevarmaksi, että hän salli tytön käydä ulkona, kaupassa ja jopa laskettelemassa kanssaan. Lopulta Natascha pakeni sieppaajan pihalta, ja Priklopil tappoi myöhemmin itsensä. Ja siitä mediavyörytys vasta alkoi...

Yksi kirjan mielenkiintoisimpia anteja oli se, miten Kampusch vastustaa itsensä leimaamista uhriksi. Hän kieltäytyy olemasta vain Tukholma-syndroomasta kärsivä raukka, jonka omalla itsepäisyydellä ja selviytymiskyvyllä ei ollut mitään tekemistä sen kanssa, miten hän lopulta selvisi pakoon ja sai uudestaan otteen normaaliin elämään. Media ja viranomaiset ovat vieroksuneet sitä tapaa, jolla Kampusch puhuu sieppaajastaan inhimillisenä, myös sääliä herättävänä tapauksena, joka ei ollut läpeensä paha tai tuomittava:

Heti kun aloin luoda sieppaajasta moniulotteisempaa kuvaa, ihmiset pyörittelivät silmiään ja käänsivät katseensa pois. Ihmiset eivät pidä siitä, että heidän käsitystään hyvästä ja pahasta horjutetaan ja että he joutuvat vastakkain sen seikan kanssa, että myös ruumiillistuneella pahuudella on inhimilliset kasvot. Pimeä puoli ei ole tullut tyhjästä, kukaan ei synny hirviönä maailmaan. [...] Minä osuin ajatuksillani arkaan paikkaan ja törmäsin ymmärtämättömyyteen yrittäessäni löytää kiduttajan ja siisteysintoilijan naamion takaa ihmisen. [...] Halusin ymmärtää, miksi hänestä tuli ihminen, joka teki minulle niin kuin teki. Lopetin kuitenkin sellaiset yritykset lyhyeen. Minun ei sallittu käsitellä tapahtunutta sillä tavalla, se leimattiin Tukholma-syndroomaksi.

Kiinnostavaa oli myös se, miten Kampusch selittää kasvavan riippuvuutensa sieppaajasta ja pelkonsa ulkomaailmaa kohtaan. Loppuaikoina Priklopil jopa otti tytön mukaansa kauppareissuille ja antoi tämän työskennellä puutarhassa keskellä kirkasta päivää, koska luotti siihen, ettei Kampusch uskalla paeta tai huutaa apua. Lukiessa tuntuu melkein uskomattomalta, ettei hän todella uskaltanut edes yrittää pakoon. Kampusch itse vertaa suhdettaan väkivaltaiseen sieppaajaan pikkulapsen suhteeseen väkivaltaiseen äitiin: vaikka äiti joskus lyö ja komentaa, oma äiti on kuitenkin aina oma äiti ja sen vuoksi turvallisempi vaihtoehto kuin vieraat ihmiset ja muu maailma. Ei lapsikaan välttämättä osaa tai uskalla hakea apua ventovierailta saati paeta uhkaavasta tilanteesta vaan mieluummin alistuu ja toivoo, että tilanne vielä muuttuu paremmaksi. Näin vahvan riippuvuussuhteen sieppaajakin oli onnistunut rakentamaan Kampuschiin.

Natasha Kampush es una joven austriaca que fue secuestrada cuando solo tenia 10 años. Estuvo en cautiverio durante 18 años. En este libro Natasha Kampush nos cuenta la experiencia de aquellos 18 años que le cambiaron la vida. El libro me defraudo un poco.

An incredible memoir of survival. Mrs.Kampusch details her years spent in captivity and explains how she finally managed to break free. She has a lot of insight into the psychological aspects of her experience and she never portraits herself as a victim. Nevertheless it is heartbreaking to imagine a young child locked in a basement by some crazy man. This is a story that will stay with me for a while.

In march of 1998 the ten year old Natascha disappears on her way to school in a suburb to Vienna. The search is intense for a couple of months, after which the girl is presumed dead. But Natascha is alive, kept prisoner in a five square meter room in a sound isolated basement behind two thick concrete doors and a hidden corridor. Her abductor is Wolfgang Priklopil, a young man suffering from severe paranoid schizophrenia. Eight years later Natascha manages to escape, upon which Priklopil promptly kills himself. Her fate becomes a ruthless media craze, and she is more or less forced under ground again. This book is her own account of the years in imprisonment.

This is a quick, gruesome and deeply fascinating read. Natascha describes the years in Priklopil’s basement without sentiment, and with an impressive amount of analysis. She describes in horrid detail how her “role” changed over time from pampered child to work slave to “wife”, the violence, the terror, the psychological torture – food, sleep and light deprivation, altering of reality, manipulation of memory. But also more complex aspects: how Natascha managed to keep some feeling of superiority towards her prisoner over all the years and how high the threshold to escape actually was.

Perhaps most interesting is her description of the evolving, complicated relationship to Priklopil. She sharply denounces the idea of Stockholm Syndrome, meaning that such a label takes away her right to interpret her experience. She talks about how Priklopil was the only person she met for eight years, and that despite the violence and terror, there was also a mutuality there that was necessary for her survival. And there were “good times” too. In the end, after her release, this unwillingness to talk about absolute evil, the victim refusing to play the role of victim, is what the media has a hard time handling, and she faces some rather appalling aggressiveness as a result.

A strong young woman with a unique story – and a book that won’t make you feel like a dirty scavenger for reading it. Recommended.

I chose this book from a pile at the monthly Beijing Bookswap because there was little else that grabbed me and I was short of time. Not at all my usual type of book, I suspected it would be another of the growing genre of misery memoirs and I was quite prepared to abandon reading if it didn't grab me. However, I found that right from the beginning of the bookNatascha's strong personality was evident, and she told her story clearly with a remarkably unemotional style. I was struck by how, only a few years after her ordeal ended she was able to look back so dispassionately, and analyse both her childhood self and her abductor with such mature clarity. Although I realise she had help writing this book I thought her real voice came through clearly, and she is an impressive young woman - not a victim, a survivor. This book will certainly add to the understanding of how human beings cope with solitary confinement, sensory deprivation and psychological trauma. I wish her well in the rest of her life.

I mars 1998 forlot ti år gamle Natascha sitt hjem i en bydel i Wien. På vei til skolen ble hun dratt inn i en bil, og etter dette opphørte alle spor etter henne.

Kidnapperens navn var Wolfgang Priklopil, og han hadde lenge planlagt å kidnappe et barn. Kjelleren i huset hans var allerede innredet som et fangehull, knapt fem-seks kvadratmeter stort. Dette fangehullet skulle de neste årene - i nøyaktig 3096 dager - bli Nataschas nye "hjem" ...

Boka "3096 dager" er Natascha Kampusch´ egen fortelling om et fangenskap gjennom åtte år, og om hvordan hun klarte å holde ut uten å miste verken seg selv eller forstanden. I løpet av disse årene ble hun mishandlet på det groveste. At hennes historie også omhandlet seksuelt misbruk, nevner hun så vidt, men av hensyn til seg selv og sin egen verdighet, orker hun ikke å utdype dette nærmere. Da hun slapp løs, var hun 18 år og veide kun litt over 40 kg. Kidnapperen brukte nemlig sult som et middel til å kontrollere henne under fangenskapet.

Det er en sterk historie som fortelles! At hun klarte å opprettholde et visst minimum av verdighet oppi det hele, er nesten ikke til å tro. Underveis hadde hun faktisk noen muligheter for å stikke av, men ulike omstendigheter gjorde at hun ikke klarte dette likevel. Mest av alt fordi hun var så nedbrutt og nedpsyket at motet sviktet hver gang. Aller sterkest fant jeg hennes analyse av de reaksjonene hun ble møtt med da hun omsider klarte å flykte. Fordi hun nektet å gå inn i en offerrolle, ble hun også møtt med sterke antipatier fra omverdenen. En egenskap som nettopp gjorde at hun kom gjennom fangenskapet med forstanden i behold ... Hun tar også et oppgjør med det såkalte "Stockholm-syndromet", der offeret sympatiserer med overgriperen, og denne delen av boka fant jeg svært interessant. Jeg synes boka fortjener en sterk firer på terningen.

Liked this book a lot! Even an idea that it is all a true story makes my stomach cramp... Liked the intensity of it and the dark atmosphere of being in a way like a companion to the girls struggle for freedom, both in her mind and in her sad reality. The strength that is radiating from the pages of her personal account, fascinates me.

Die Geschichte von Natascha Kampusch ist bekannt und man scheut sich daher vielleicht ein wenig, dieses Hörbuch anzuhören.
Doch es gelingt Natascha Kampusch, den Co-Autorinnen und der Sprecherin ein ruhiges, würdevolles Portrait eines Menschen zu zeigen, der ein schlimmes Schicksal hatte und dies überstehen konnte.
Das Hörbuch ist wirklich hörenswert! Zum einen ist es wichtig, Frau Kampuschs eigene Darstellung zu hören, die nicht (oder kaum) voyeurostische Bedürfnisse befriedigt, sondern vielmehr zeigt, wie ein Mensch sich selber stark machen kann, um Schlimmes zu überleben. Die Resilienz dieser jungen Frau ist bemerkenswert, zumal sie ja schon vor der Entführung kein allzu glückliches Kind gewesen ist.
Wie sich Natascha als gepeinigtes Kind vorstellte, da sie keine erwachsene Person habe, die ihr helfen könnte, müsse sie selber dieser Erwachsene werden und wie sie sich dann vorstellte, ihr erwachsenes Ich würde ihrem kindlichen Ich versprechen, ihm zu helfen und wie sie dieses Versprechen dann hielt, gehört zum Beeindruckendsten, das ich je gelesen habe. Es wird für mich als Strategie, die ich auch anderen raten kann, immer präsent bleiben.
Das Buch erinnert mich an "Trotzdem Ja zum leben sagen" von Viktor Frankl, das ich auch erst vor einigen Wochen las. Die Abfolge psychologischer Stufen im Grauen, das Aufrichten an Zukunftsvisionen, aber auch an den Visionen geliebter Menschen, auch der Schock bei der Rückkehr in die Normalität, all das hat auch Viktor Frankl durchgemacht. Und er wie Natascha Kampusch haben gezeigt, dass es möglich ist, zu überleben und innerlich nicht zu zerbrechen, sondern sogar zu wachsen.
Ich habe Hochachtung vor dieser Leistung und wünsche Frau Kampusch alles erdenklich Gute.½
