Korte biografie
Eddy Kay, a native of Detroit, Mich., began his sales career at Pasadena’s University Stereo in 1979 after working as a nightclub entertainer for 15 years. Several years later, as vice president of sales and marketing for the Southern California chain Al & Ed’s Autosound, Mr. Kay saw the need for a formal training program for his staff of 80 salespeople. He began writing what eventually became his self-published training program called The Toolbox. He then moved on to the position of national sales director for Clifford Electronics, leaving the company in 1995 to found the Eddy Kay Group.
Today Mr. Kay works as an independent consultant teaching manufacturers and retailers what he calls “the art and science of sales and management.” He has been a featured speaker for such major companies as Circuit City, Future Shop, and Sony Electronics. His seminars at conferences hosted by the groups including International Music Products Association and the Consumer Electronics Association are often standing-room-only. Mr. Kay’s articles have appeared in a variety of business publications.
He is the author of two books in the GOOD NEWS ABOUT RETAILING series (The Armarium Press.): "Thriving in the Shadow of Giants: How to Find Success as an Independent Retailer" and "Take Charge!: A Manager's Guide to Independent Retailing."
