This is an excellent reference book for all teachers (not just those teaching gifted or advanced academic students) and administrators. The sample assessments, surveys, and lesson suggestions in particular are quite helpful and I have used several of them in my classroom over the past year. The book is arranged into topic-specific sections so the reader can jump directly to the section on the subject that they teach or the topic that they want to know about. Good mix of theory and praxis for educators of gifted students. Looks at many aspects of gifted education and what sets these students' learning styles apart. Gives practical advice for different types of learning activities (long-term, not just lesson plans), and concludes with two chapters on each major area of language arts, math, science, and social studies.

This book is extremely helpful for the future teacher because it talks about the potential issues that arise as a gifted teacher and it also says why it is important. It is interesting because there are also model ideas to use for teaching at different ages. It is also organized in a way that makes referencing it again and again possible (by subject).
