Quakerwidow | 1 andere bespreking | Nov 14, 2022 | With a name like Evil Sushi, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was getting myself into when I started reading this book, but I was wonderfully surprised to discover this thrilling tale was just what the title suggested: something terrifying yet playful. When reading this book, I discovered that this book touches on a lot of different things that I was thinking about over the last few years. I’m sure we’ve all thought about the effect our choice in diet has on the environment, even in passing, and that’s why this tale gave me chills. The classic horror nowadays centers around the impossible: zombies. But what if that terror came from the sea? What if our future looked just a little more like the apocalypse with sea life? Just a little on the joking side, but wonderfully serious at the same time, this book will have you gripping the edge of your seat and expectantly waiting for the next in the series!

AVG9 | 2 andere besprekingen | Apr 20, 2022 | Oh my goodness, this is book 2 of the Evil Sushi series. Sashimi is a wicked evil mermaid type monster and Aileen is out for revenge. It's hard to to keep up with who's more trouble-General Talbot (idiot military) or the Evil Sushi (creeping ocean and more). Aileen, Rod and Ned are facing challenge after challenge. Susy is part of that challenge. They do their best to come up with ways to stop it but it seems their is some evolution going on? Man, I'm loving this story. Aileen is already pissed because Sashimi snacked on her brother Charlie and left him all but dead. Aileen is pretty badass and strong. She's going to get through this. She has one more brother to protect. She find's out Susy is being naughty and calls her out. Go, Aileen! Rod deserves better. The writing is such that you root for these guys while hoping the worthless military that is left get eaten. The characters are great. Ned is your average older man just trying to make a living and now disappointed in his kid. Aren't most of us? The plot flows smooth for going back and forth a bit. The theme throughout the story is conservation and I love how the author took that and ran with it. That ocean life fight back. I can't wait for book 3 in the series. This book also has a creepiness factor because it just might make me not want to put my feet in the ocean. It's a really good book and I recommend it. So good and so creepy at times. It will make you think about things.

Shelly.Kittell | Apr 15, 2022 | Watch out for the Evil Sushi; it's worse than gas station sush! It's going to get you and it's takes a real bite out of you. Rod is feeling let down because his way of earning a living is dying due to corporate greed. He goes after one of the big boats blows up the fish and finds some unknown fish. He gets Ned and they go back and find some rainbow fish. They take some home and Sally, Ned's daughter, puts them in a tank with tap water and salt. I loved this part because it reminded me of a furry little creature you shouldn't get wet. Well, seems if you get salt on this fish, it multiplies. They thought this was a good thing. Nope...hence Evil Sushi. A bad, bad thing happens. Greedy people, mutants, and unknowns. Oh my goodness. This is the best food horror story that I've read in awhile. I love sushi but I just may have to rethink it for a bit. Those characters showed every sign of greed and bad personalities. I felt bad for Aileen and Rod. Sally had some 'tude. Love the plot, it was entertaining and made you think because in some weird way, who says it can't happen. Hmmmmm? I highly recommend this. I'm looking forward to moving on to book 2 in the series.

Shelly.Kittell | 2 andere besprekingen | Apr 13, 2022 | I loved this story. Eros, the Valentine's Day God, has a bet with Mother Nature to prove that his job isn't that easy. She soon finds that it isn't. Spring is a nursery owner, Alex is her delivery guy. They have know each other since they were kids. They have yet to acknowledge the chemistry between them. She goes out with singer turned author Luke. Can we say disaster? Meddling Mom? I don't I've laughed that hard in a while. You really should read this story. The story is entertaining and humorous. The characters are quirky, funny, and learn that life is too short to be serious. Have some fun. Mother Nature learns an important lesson. The tone is what makes the story. I was totally sucked in because Eros started with narrating the story and he sucks you right in. Highly recommend.

Shelly.Kittell | Apr 13, 2022 | This is one of the cutest romance books that I have read in a while. Clover is a waitress trying to get by, saving herself for her man. Shamrock is a ladies man with a reputation. When these two meet up, the sparks fly. Problem is, she meets him as Patrick. Can she still love him once she learns his nickname? This author did a fantastic job. Fun story. Well-written characters that were totally relatable. They could have been your best friends. I would love to see more like this. Maybe in a Benihana, lol. Please, from a reader eagerly awaiting more? I would definitely give it more than a 5 if I could. Highly recommend.

Shelly.Kittell | Mar 16, 2022 | Lara and Graham are two people thrown together in the goodness of romantic goodness (bakery goodness, that is). He's opening a bakery/dating app; she's coming home to heal from a bad breakup and to help her mom with the family bakery (his competition). Between the witty radio station conversations, the yummy recipes included (have to try some of these), and the just plain funny, romantic story, this is one story you just can't piss. The chemistry is there. Her parents are your typical parents: Mom is chill, Dad is a grump. The town is Cupid's Cove. The plot is simple and makes for a quick weekend read. Relatable and you'll love the story. I recommend this book to all.

Shelly.Kittell | Feb 27, 2022 | This was a rather refreshing love story that focused more on the characters and their lives than just moments of romance with tidbits about things going on in their lives. I loved how easy it was to imagine the story, and the flow, even though it was told from two point of views, was perfect. Though it was pretty short, I feel like the lives of Emily and Dr. D were showcased well, and not a second thought as I’ve seen with other stories of a similar length. It was adorable, really, to read some of the chapters and thoughts from both sides. I think I may have laughed out loud a few times, definitely was caught grinning like a madwoman at my screen more times than I can count. Reading this short story has made me curious about the rest of the books written by this author and I will be checking them out.

AVG9 | Feb 23, 2022 | Mikayla's first year at The Grave Digger's Academy turns out to be pretty adventurours. The seventh-born witch/daughter brings secrets and challenges. Mikayla makes new friends and enemies as she tries to unravel a few mysteries. Great YA book. Fans of Harry Potter may just love this series. Looking for to reading sequels. The characters each have their own quirky personalities. The whole concept of there being a difference between gravedigger and grave digger could keep you intrigued just by that. The headmistress has a few secrets of her own. Mikayla solves a few secrets in this installment but is only left with more answers.

I believe writing is an art form. There are no rights and wrongs. There isn't a check-off list of do's and don'ts. Having said that, I do take some creative liberties in my work that not everyone will appreciate. This is the first installment of The Portal Prophecies Series. Readers are about to enter a fantasy world unlike any others. This book sets the lore for the rest of the series.
When we first meet our heroes, they are locked in a society that oppresses citizens for the common good of the world. Just as they begin to unravel their past, it catches up to them. The very enemy they had built walls to keep out, threatens their existence.
The Portal Prophecies are their only clue, but can they solve them in time?
In my series, The Portal Prophecies, there are many themes - love is one of the them, but in a different way than you may expect. Yes, there is an innocent romantic part to it, complete with love triangles, but it's more than that. It's a story about discovering love: what it is; the different kinds; and, most importantly, how to differentiate between them. It's growing pains on steroids. Sorry, but readers won't find out the final love equation answer until the final installment.
Now that you've read book one, you are ready for all the action the rest of the series brings!

A paranormal mystery laced with comedic undertones: Twisted Tales of a Dead End Street.
Nine neighbours were invited to the mysterious dinner party at 9 Nine Street. Their host, the owner of the mansion, had more planned for the evening than just roast beef.
When the secret of their quiet street was revealed, everything changed, blurring the lines between the tangible and the paranormal.
Was the number nine the difference between life and death? Would any of them survive long enough to uncover the truth?
They would each soon find out this wasn't a simple case of who-done-it so much as one of what was being done and by whom.

I enjoyed writing Gabrielle and her unique weapon. She's the strongest and smartest of the four! More importantly, though Dante's character evolves in book two. He makes a formidable villain/anti-hero for the horsemen that I personally love to hate.Gemarkeerd

If you love a strong female ant-hero, Prudance is your gal! She will always be one of my favourite characters to write and the magic in this one I adore! I haven't decided if I should do more with her in the future - perhaps her own series.Gemarkeerd

I wrote this for an anthology - unfortunately it ended up being a bit to dark for the set. If you were wondering why I have a few different stories surrounding the idea of anger management classes-- now you know! Vampires need more love!

Serendipity is another "unfortunate" character. This time it isn't fortunes, but a luck piece causing all the problems... or is it? It's another case of is the paranormal to blame. This book was actually inspired by a book convention I attended in New Orleans.

Hope - poor Hope. Her story, if it's real, is quite horrid. Even if it isn't I'm glad she had the opportunity to tell it.This book opens off a spin off series that delves deeper in the Knollville Legends, which is really exciting for me.
