This book offers a feminist vision of reproductive health care in five developing countries and two developed ones on five continents. The author, a medical student and activist, interviewed over 90 women's rights activists, health professionals, NGO workers and government officials to get a sense of official policies and actual delivery of service in local clinics. The book examines women's access to sex education, maternity care, family planning and abortion, and analyses how much power women in diverse contexts have to negotiate sexual practices. This is addressed within the context of international population control agendas and the influence of discourse on reproductive health on the rights of women.
