This was a funny before bed read aloud. Some silly names to trip the tongue and delight little ones.

The cover alone moved me to purchase this book, about the search by a 'great thinker' to discover the source of a single strand of hair. It could perhaps be subtitled, "The Hairiad", as it takes on the aura of adventure peculiar to Homer. Irony and wit is enveloped within the writing, and the art is simply wonderful.

"You know about the saltiness of ink and the bounciness of sausage". Well, I do now, thanks to this beautiful book.

first line: "In a month much like this month and in a year much like this year, Hieronymus stepped on a bug."

The artwork is a lot stronger than the story, I think, though the silly names and idiosyncrasies of the various characters would probably make this a great book to read aloud to children.½
