Rude Awakening!, June 30, 2000
Reviewer: Oke Babatunde (Nigeria) - See all my reviews
The most impressive thing about this album is the successful blend of the African and Western styles. The remixes of songs like Beng Beng Beng and What Will Tomorrow Bring shows the dexterity in Femi's music and lyrics. Until I heard this CD, I used to be under the erroneous impression, that Femi's music could only sound good in the Contemporary African or rather Afro Beat format. But now I realize how wrong I have been. This CD is a collector's item. Go out and grab your copy, despite its slightly high price tag, the quality of the mixes more than compensates for it.
