Angela Von Laue

The pictures give an interesting insight to Soviet life. But the decision to add text for a historical background of the pictures ruins the book. It becomes obvious quite quickly that Thedore H Von Laue could not separate propaganda from reality. His anti-Bolshevik views and unwillingness to view the political realities of the situation leading up to the October Revolution lead him all suited to cover a book like this.

Dimitri Baltermants the photographer of this book, would have been done a favor if his daughter wrote more then just the introduction. Her heartfelt introduction makes the rest of the book (outside of the pictures) feel as though it is missing something.

I picked this book up off clearance for around 8 or 9 bucks, Retail says its 45, I wouldn't pay much more then I paid.… (meer)
