785. Dallas Public and Private by Warren Leslie (read 27 Oct 1964) I took this with me when I went to North Dakota for a hearing in regard to a claim related to the Packers and Stockyards Act. I did not find the book very engrossing.
This novel is a pedestrian tale posing as something shocking. It is the story of the Starr family who own an exclusive chain of department stores. This roman a clef is a thinly veiled story in which the story is based on Nieman Marcus, although there appears to be no connection with the Marcus family.
My own copy is a First Edition, which was recalled in Texas due to similarity of character's name to local big-wig here in Fort Worth. Since she has since died, her name was Georganne Carter.… (meer)
