This will be of interest to anyone who has lived in Shanghai and is fascinated by how it has changed over the years. Published in 1934, it is a snapshot of what was a very good time to be a foreigner living under your own laws in Shanghai - before the Japanese arrived on the scene and started dropping bombs on Nanjing Road. This was the last gasp of the French Settlement and the International Settlement. The Park Hotel (the tallest building in Asia!) was just opening.
