This book gives a useful overview of the Reformed church congregation in Muri, a town in Aargau’s Freiamt. The occasion was the centennial of the 1894 founding of an association to represent the interests of Protestants in what was, and still is, a predominantly Roman Catholic area. The title’s mention of “Glaubenskrieg” refers to the fact that Muri had felt the effects of the turbulence of the early sixteenth century. For a brief moment, it looks as if the Reformation would take root there. This ended, however, with the peace concluded after the second confrontation in nearby Kappel in 1531.
As the title indicates, violent confrontation has given way to ecumenical coexistence.
