(Book 5 in the 2005 book challenge)
Did I mention I read my own PERSONALLY AUTOGRAPHED BY MR. LEVY TO ME copy of this book? Anyway, this is Marv Levy's autobiography, and just in case people don't know, Marv Levy was the coach of the Buffalo Bills during the last half of the 80s and most of the 90s. He's a pretty chipper guy, and the book is more or less what one would expect, a very general outline of his life that focuses on his coaching career, with a lot of cute old guy type observations that are a mix between witty-ish and groany. It's all very good natured, though. Now, the Bills was his last coaching job, so we don't even get to the Buffalo stuff until the last 1/4 of the book. The whole thing made me very happy, but toward the end, I felt the black hand of malaise settle over me -- reading detailed accounts of the Bills of those years made me realize that it's extremely unlikely that anyone, much less Buffalo, is ever going to field a team like that again. Holy cow. I can't decide if I'm being melodramatic, or if I'm really this bitter and cynical.

Grade: B+, when graded as a football biography. A++, when graded for Bills fans.
Recommended: Well duh, yes, for all Bills fans. I think most football fans in general would also enjoy this, over his years coaching he's met and worked with all sorts of football legends, which I think is fairly interesting. If you do not like football at all, you will not like this book.
