Learn the Chinese language through EMOJI. Learn to recognize Chinese characters by connecting them to the familiar EMOJI language that you already use every day.
The HANMOJI Handbook is recommended for optional purchase for teens in grades 6-12 who are interested in the Chinese language. This book not only teaches familiar Chinese words and phrases but it also provides a glimpse into the history and culture of China. The full color illustrations and photographs paired with bold text and graphics make it easy to follow and interesting to read. It is great for learning to read Chinese but not in speaking the language.… (meer)

A very interesting book with helpful colorful illustrations to learn and remember Chinese characters. Also included is the history and evolution of Chinese characters dating back to the Qin dynasty as well as the history of emojis from Japan in the 1990s. I enjoyed the storytelling aspect of the explanations such as 2 characters for fire under 2 characters for wood becomes the character for burn; several of the same characters for person becomes the character for crowd. So cool!

I requested this book from Early Reviewers because the Chinese language has always fascinated me. I learned a small bit when I was a kid and always wanted to learn more. There is an artistry to the Chinese characters that I've always loved. This book jumps right in and doesn't just teach the characters, but also goes into the history of the languages spoken/written in China. I loved the bits of history throughout the book, and the quizzes and games to help you master the concepts. In addition, it's just a fun book with all the emojis and the comparison to traditional Chinese characters. This is great for both kids and adults who want to learn more about the Chinese language in general. The way the info is presented is fun, interesting, and really helps the concepts stick!… (meer)

The Hanmoji Handbook was a quick and informative read. It’s well-written with lots of photos and illustrations. This book provides a brief history of emojis and Chinese language.

You shouldn’t pick up this book expecting to learn Chinese in depth. You will pick up some words and phrases as you go, but it’s more about the evolution the language and emojis than grammar and vocabulary. However, it was very interesting, and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in languages.
