A disjointed read, plagued by repetition. Each chapter reads like a separate article, written weeks apart and never again read together. The same facts are repeated many times as if they were being mentioned for the first time. The ending is odd - almost like the last chapter was ended halfway through.

I know this is an old book - written in the mid 1990s - but many of the "insider knowledge" facts are just the writer's impressions of people or quotes from newspaper interviews. 1 chapter is an "I have an axe to grind" chapter about a newspaper article that his name was put against - where he seems to be more put out that the LFC Chairman's solicitor wrote asking for an apology more than the fact that his newspaper stitched him up.

I enjoy books about football and especially my own team - Liverpool. This is the first I can remember really being bored and annoyed by. Found in a charity shop and going back to a charity shop very soon. Since found out the author died not long after this book was published. Maybe he was ill while writing it and that affected it.… (meer)
