Where did the super confident Matt go to? Being in love, Aidan naturally wants to share everything with Matt. This story explores Matt's personality and insecurities and he has a few of them. It seems that Matt has never had a true, loving long term relationship and doesn't know how to deal with Aidan's desire to share. Top that off with a surprise visit from Aidan's cheating ex and Matt's confidence just vanishes. Aidan is determined to keep his man and goes about it well. I loved the brother and sister team of Skye and Storm. I was awed by the beauty of New Zealand and the way it was painted in this story. I hope Ms Logan gives Skye more time in the next book.

Set in the wilds of Africa, this is a story about a lion shifter and his mate, another big cat. Zee may be a price, and he may be expected to continue the royal line by producing offspring, but he is gay. And when he unexpectedly finds hi also very male mate, he is ecstatic and devastated at the same time. Unsurprisingly the "traditionalists" in the tribe have a problem with the prospect of a gay king, and organize a confrontation in which Zee has to fight to the death.

If you like shifter stories with all the standard elements, if you enjoy exotic settings, and if you're looking for a read with lots of hot man-on-man action, the you will probably like this short novella.

‘Rock Hard’ tells the story of Aidan and Matt’s first meeting - on a mountainside in a hazardous situation, no less – and when I recently reread it, I was already looking forward to the sequel, ‘Hard ‘n Deep’, that I somehow missed when it was first published. Aidan and Matt already know they can rely on each other when things get tough physically – they proved that six weeks ago in the first installment of their meeting and falling in love - but relationships involve emotions as well, and it’s those feelings, demons from the past, and insecurities that are the focus of this second novella.

Aidan is a successful businessman who owns a chain of gyms. He has recovered from injuries, conquered his demons by returning to the mountain to climb it, and is enjoying getting to know Matt better. In fact, he is ready for them to move in together and thinks they’d be good business partners too, but Matt is just not ready. It frustrates Aidan not to push, but it may be the only way to achieve his goals – until his ex-fiancée from two years ago turns up and ruins everything.

Matt is a speed-climber who holds the world record, but he lost his sponsors because he came out as gay. He refuses to accept charity from Aidan – which is what he thinks of when Aidan reveals his plans, Matt is not one to open up easily – and it becomes clear why as the story develops and parts of his past are revealed. Catching Aidan in what Matt thinks is a compromising position with a woman confirms his worst suspicions and he runs. It’s up to Aidan to go after his man and make sure they have a future… and I couldn’t wait to see it happen!

If you like watching two men who are clearly in love battle out relationship details, if male stubbornness is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is suspenseful, hot, and emotionally satisfying , then you will probably like this novella.

I'm... not entirely sure what to rate this, because my enjoyment of it was all over the place. I ended up rating it by my feelings at the end of the story, and by then I wasn't too into it anymore.

So, the first half or so of the book was good. The sex was hot, the characters I liked, the idea behind how they came to be what they are was weird, but interesting, and it was a nice bit of fluff on the rest. The relationship didn't seem to have much going besides sex, but I could overlook that. I could even overlook the random usage of another language (I don't mind a few words or a phrase now and again; I understand, you want to be realistic about it, but honestly when: a. the rest of the book they speak English and b. you're going to provide a translation of what they say anyway, then you really don't need to put entire pieces of dialog in the original language your character is from, you can just say "he said in (whatever language of your choosing)" - this is a personal pet peeve though.)
Anyway, I should have stopped reading when they became mates.

After that, I felt the story just got worse and worse. It could have been good, but it wasn't. And then, it almost completely lost me on "walla". No. Just no. That's not how you spell it, and if you spelled that wrong, I have no trust that you spelled any of the other foreign words right. Don't get me wrong, anyone can have typos. But "walla" is not a typo.

And then the little bit at the end with the fight off, and the real lions coming, and just bleh, no. So not cool.
So, ready for a 4 stars at the start, dwindled to a 3, and left it at 2 to be kind, because I enjoyed the first half, but disliked the last half.

Meh. I would have given it a three, but there are books way better than this one that I have placed there.

Although, to be fair, this book was not bad, just so predictable and stereotypical that I lost interest fairly quickly. I felt no passion or connection between the characters and we spent way too much time on Lisa.
