This was excellent. Still, it would be nice to have up-to-date figures. In general, though, while things have improved a little, the major problems still remain.

I ordered this book for review in Knowledge Organization because I found the title interesting. I was somewhat surprised and disappointed to discover that it was just a reprint of a book published in Chicago by Aldine-Atherton in 1972 under the title: Medical men and their work.

There is no explanation in the book why the title was changed or in which sense the term “knowledge organization” (KO) should be understood. This is a sociological book of medical professionals. Of course it is also indirectly relevant to our field of KO. I do not at this moment feel inspired, however, to draw this connection.

This short review is just written in order to warn other readers that the content might not be what they expect.
