OK, you want creepy? Look no further than this book! Not only because it’s based on actual events, but just the way the author is able to portray this poor family held captive by horrifying events is spellbinding. EVPs, possession, phantom sounds, heavy footsteps, phantom rocking chairs… All are present in this truly captivating horror piece.

I like how the author was slow in his delivery of the story. The gradual build up to the finale was quite a journey since the author gives us tidbits and sporadic hauntings before building momentum. The occasional sound. The gradual change in Janie. The author has paced his story beautifully to create an incredible atmosphere of horror and fear.

I would definitely recommend this novel to anyone looking for a creepy Halloween read. It will require you to keep the lights on, the radio on for background noise, and a nice blanket to hide under.… (meer)
