While the photography contained in this book would easily make it a four or five star read, it suffers from outdated information (it was published in 1995). If a newer version of it was released this could easily be an utterly fantastic and invaluable guide, and I'm certain when it was first published it was exactly that. However, through a modern lens information such as the polar bear population remaining stable and increasing in some areas is certainly not exactly accurate now, and the opossum life-span being up to 7 years is something that is known to not be true in captivity or the wild.

Information on scat, tracks, and signs remains valuable, but illustrated/photographic evidence for more than simply tracks would be invaluable. Hopefully in any future updated versions these would be included. As it stands, however, this is an excellent book full of beautiful photography that is just in need of an updated edition.… (meer)
