Summary - A true story of a boy who loved fishing and was paralyzed from the waist down then had to learn how to enjoy life with this restriction. He went on to change the lives of many other people.

Critique of genre - This is a true story of a young boy therefore it is a biography

Age - Secondary

Usage - This book would work for journal writing and expanding on how people with limitations live life and are able to do a lot of the things anyone does. This would create awareness for children to not be afraid of others in a wheel chair.

Ben comes home to find his sister in distress about her ballet recital that night. His mom had told him to watch Allison and help her get to the recital. Allison needed help with her dress, with her hair and with her confidence. Being a great older brother, Ben helped her with all of these and got her to the recital just in time.

The only redeeming part of this book was the very end, when the brother finally gave something up to watch his sister dance and realized that maybe he wouldn't trade her after all. Otherwise, most of the book was about how mean he and his friends could be to her. It was quite sad, and I didn't really like it at all. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because it is a good lesson for older siblings to realize what's going on in the heads of their younger siblings. I don't know that I would recommend this book to anyone but parents who are experiencing severe sibling rivalry or disinterest.
