I previously read Lucy Wagner Gets In Shape (Lucy Wagner--Book 1)and Jen Morales Gets A Clue (Lucy Wagner--Book 2). They both were very short novellas that only cost 99 cents a piece which ended up being okay reads. I really did like the characters of Lucy and Jen so it was nice to revisit Lucy's life now that she is married with her new baby.

Based on the book synopsis I assumed that this story was going to be told from Lucy's six month old daughter's point of view (which I thought was a fun idea) so we could get her take on her parents. However, it was just another novella told from Lucy's point of view. I think that's okay but I really don't like it when a book's synopsis does not match at all what the novel or novella in this case is about.

That aside it was really nice to catch back up with Lucy and see how much her life has changed since she married Will and gave birth to their daughter Millie. We still have Jen being Jen (and acting all kinds of a food about things) and now Lucy dealing with an interfering mother in law and inappropriate boss.

Looking forward to the next novella in the series!

Ten years ago Ava was your average high school girl only she did not mix with the rich kids and especially not with the rich and sexy as sin Derek. That is until one night they do end up in his parents bed and not only do they lose their virginity to each other but the earth moves for both of them. Derek is convinced Ava is the girl for him and hopes that she will feel the same way, but he also feels a little guilty for taking her virginity.

Ava on the other hand is convinced she is everything but right for Derek and decides to immediately break up the relationship before it even gets started properly. Now ten years later it is her high school reunion and convinced that Derek will not be attending she figures she can go and show the "kids" that she has made something of herself with a very prosperous and thriving company of her own.

Only once at the reunion she bumps into, yes you guessed it the man himself! The fierce attraction of ten years ago is still there for them both. And they start up a relationship but after only a short while Ava calls halt to the relationship yet again, as she has more than enough reason to believe that this time she really is no goo for him. Can Derek find out what troubling circumstances has brought on this sudden heartache yet again that he fears he will not survive so easily as the first time? And can he convince Ava that she is indeed the only woman for him?

Claire Matthews spins a tale of lust, intrigue and good old fashioned romance in this compelling story of lovers reunited. What I liked about the story was that it shows how even after ten years that feelings from the past that one thought could be easily dismissed can indeed not be done, and even it it takes 15 or 20 years when true love strikes following your heart and not your head is the one thing that no one truly in love can ignore.

I'm giving a 50 page novella five stars. The world is definitely ending in 2012. Never again will I make excuses for novellas not having character development or much plot or anything else we look for in a book. This book has raised the bar for everything under 100 pages I ever read in the future.

This teeny tiny quickie had it all. It made me laugh, made me sad, got me vested in the characters, and didn't make me feel like something was missing. The characters were developed and had history. The dialogue was entertaining and witty. The chemistry was steamy. The struggles made me want to cry. None of these statements have the qualifier “for a short book”. This author is going to the TOP of my to-be-read list.
