3402. Crowded Years: The Reminiscenses of William Gibbs McAdoo (read Feb 7, 2001) This came out in 1931, when the author was much better known than I suppose he is today, but any student of political conventions and especially of the most unconventional convention of all times--the 1924 Democratic Convention--will know about him. I have long wanted to read this book, but disappointingly, it ends with the close of the Wilson Administration, so we learn naught of the 1924 Convention--and it was written before the author was a Senator from California. But there are a lot of interesting things in the book and it was well worth reading.½
