John-Roger was born Roger Delano Hinkins on September 24, 1934 in Rains, Utah. He received a B.A. in psychology from the University of Utah. He worked as a high school English teacher. After a near-death experience in 1963, he experienced a revelation that pointed him toward spiritual teaching. He toon meer was the founder of the Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness church. In 1976, he started what is now known as the University of Santa Monica, an unaccredited school specializing in spiritual psychology, and the Peace Theological Seminary and College of Philosophy. In the 1980s, former members of the church denounced it as cult-like and authoritarian and accused John-Roger of a variety of misdeeds including betraying a vow of poverty, sexual misconduct, and threatening apostates with physical violence. He denied the accusations, but soon stepped down as spiritual director of the church. He was the author or co-author of several books including Spiritual Warrior: The Art of Spiritual Living, Living the Spiritual Principles of Health and Well-Being, and Forgiveness: The Key to the Kingdom. I usually get rid of my books after reading them but this is just one of those books that I can't seem to part with. Its just a get 'er done kind of book. Its very motivating and positive and really does inspire you to change your life for the better!

Quotes for everyone, everyday to read again and again. This book was left to me from an estate. When I did some research, I thought that I had a different edition than the original. What confused me was what was on the inside, as it tells the story of how and why the book came to be, but is unclear to me. It has a different number of pages that I found in another book, just like it, same year, 1989.It captured my attention because I really only am interested in reading non-fiction books. What a surprise I got when I opened it up-I couldn't stop reading the simple, beautiful quotes by John-Roger. This book is not just for religious people, it's for everyone: young, old, middle aged, no matter what your beliefs. I had never heard of this author, John-Roger, so I did some research. I found a treasure of not just books written by him, but found out he has a website where you can subscribe to get daily quotes from his many seminars and talks he has given throughout the years. This is one of those books which you keep around to pick up whenever you need a "pick me up", or just to get some inspiration. I highly recommend this book, and I can't wait to read more from John-Roger.… (meer)
