Inadvertidamente, sus acciones desatan el caos y la furia en el reino, y cuando Mérida acude a una excéntrica adivina en busca de ayuda, ésta le concede un deseo malogrado. El consecuente peligro obligará a Mérida a descubrir todas sus habilidades y recursospara deshacer una bestial maldición antes de que sea demasiado tarde.

My review is colored by seeing this show on tour. The memories of that are tied to the music on the CD.

The sheer joy contained in I Just Can't Wait to Be King contrasts with the plotting in Be Prepared. And the romance in Can You feel the Love Tonight is so sweet.

This is a CD that I would strongly suggest getting as a CD and not only as digital. The booklet includes the lyrics, including translations from Swahili. I finally know what Rafiki is singing!

Some people were surprised the songs in the play differed some from the movie. If you are looking for songs as they were performed in the movie, this is probably not what you are looking for.

Recommended for anyone who enjoyed the musical.

A hunchback and some Romani are oppressed.

What were they thinking, making this movie? How could any of this have seemed like a good idea?

A teenage princess has her mother turned into a bear.

Very underrated. No, it's not the best Pixar movie (that's hardly a fair comparison to make for any movie), but it might be the strongest emotionally. My wife observes that it's the first time a fight scene made her cry.

Substance: Quasimodo the Hunchback is a very sympathetic and heroic character in this adaptation. The script makes a total hash of the book, of course, and totally "rewrites" the relationship between Esmerelda and Phoebus, her "true love." However, if you have never read the book, the story is great for the intended audience, and okay for adults.
At least this version kept the goat, although not quite in the same "role" as in the book.

I wish there had been more clarity that the bad guy, Frollo, was falsifying his alleged religious principles, but at least the nearly-irrelevant priest was a good guy.

Style: The girl-figure seems to be the same one who has been doing all the movies lately (in that era); they ought to give her a raise.

Rewatched ten years later: it's actually pretty good (again, on its own merits, not as an expression of Hugo's novel).
Note: Disney (and most animation houses) seem to settle on a set of "persona profiles" for each round of movie-making, and all the "actresses" and "actors" have to fit that mold.½
