With several and various twists in the tale, this is the story of a woman, Lizzie Cree (Olivia Cooke) who is accused of murdering her husband, we follow her tale of her life before this and learn of the hardships in her life and how she got involved in the theatre. Meanwhile Inspector Kildare (Bill Nighy) is investigating some murders that seem to have no link. They find some suspects from the British Museum reading rooms where they find a book that has been annotated, this gives them a big clue with handwriting and it's quite pivotal in the story.

As Kildare investigates things get more and more complicated the story becomes much more complicated than I expected and the end was quite a twist. It left me with a lot of questions but I liked it.
