Informal (without copy-editing) journal detailing the Iraq deployment of an Army Reserve Civil Affairs sergeant. In no way scholarly, the book has a decidedly "not-the-party-line" tone, frankly discussing the author's disagreements with U.S. and Army policy; extra-marital activities; sexual harassment; substandard living conditions; and alcohol use and abuse among the troops. Despite the journal's not necessarily showing its author in the best light, the book is an entertaining read and seems to provide a realistic depiction of life in the GWOT/OIF/OEF combat zone.
