This is a very detailed book that reads more like a text than a book for the average layperson. The history of the church's position on Darwin's theory is explained in depth, and each response is cataloged. What's useful about this book is the discussion of the different streams of logic and how the church struggled to reconcile science and religion, ultimately coming to the decision that science is another way of understanding God (as the creator of the universe), and that there is no heresy in supporting different scientific theories. This is not an easy read for the layperson, so be prepared for an intense read. Great book for Christian educators, scientists, or anyone who an interest in a detailed history of the topic.
