I requested this book because I wanted to learn about ways to help children to develop a love of learning and creativity. There are some good ideas in this book, but unfortunately it is very poorly written and needs a lot of editing. I do not recommend reading it unless the author revisits the text and makes major revisions.

I received a complimentary copy of this ebook through LibraryThing’s Early Reviewers program in exchange for an honest review. Unfortunately, there’s not much in it to review. It’s difficult to read because of the poor fluency of the writing. There are many errors that could have been prevented with an editor.

I feel that I could have looked past the awkwardness created by the language barrier if there had been good quality content. Sadly, I didn’t find that to be the case. The extent of the author’s knowledge is an undergraduate degree in education and some work as a nanny. Her advice includes buying a new purse when you want to, buying her ebook (“and be a better mother”), not making toys for your children (but also, some suggestions of toys to make), white chocolate is bad (she read this somewhere), and crushing hazelnuts with a hammer (it’s unclear whether the child is supposed to handle the hammer in this suggested activity). Furthermore, the chapters and sections begin with quotations, some of which are attributed to the author herself and most of which are labeled “author unknown.” It’s just all over the place.

I’m a mother of three, and I work in arts education. I don’t think I’m the target audience for this book, because the only new thing I gleaned from it was that “plasticine” is another word for play dough.

I found the book to be something different than I expected. I was hoping for some creative game ideas. It seemed more geared towards those who have little to no experience with children. For that group of people this would be a worthwhile read.

I was really hoping to find some fun and educational games. However this books was not at all useful. I do not believe the author has good credentials to be writing an authoritative book like this. (I believe she has teaching credentials and was a nanny). Perhaps the problem is that I too am a teacher and ECE and have studied child development. The writing in this book is very poor. I am guessing it is english as a second language problem and desperately needs an editor. But what really disappointed me was the games. They are obvious such as letting your child draw, practicing animal sounds and playing with play doh. There are a few interesting games and I agree with the idea to get kids off of screens but I don't think this book is enough to be published.
