This second chance romance is sugary sweet and ridiculously spicy. The five year separation doesn't make sense, but it's still a cute novella.

I was a little skeptical when I picked up this book. The blurb was a little cheesy in my opinion so I was afraid the book was going to be the same. I was very pleasantly surprised. The sex scenes are not cheesy and cliche at all. They're very nicely and realistically done. I loved Gunnar and Ella!! I love that Ella is plus-sized with all kinds of curves. So many romances are only skinny minis. It's nice to see a heroine who may not be as big as I am, but at least is plus-size.

I'm really looking forward to the rest of the books in this series!

Short, sweet, smutty. Loved it. It’s definitely a 4.5 stars.

The disability rep, I think, was really good. Made me realize I can do better to be less ableist in my thinking and talking. It’s time to change that! This was a treat.

The kink was also wonderfully explored.

The book is also very fast paced. Which I appreciated because I do not like slow burns especially with this kind of writing!
Get into it! It was wonderful

I liked this small-town, second-chance romance. I actually enjoyed all the shop talk lol. Hoping for Linc’s brother to get a book of his own *wink

This book was such a unique read for me because it was not only steamy and cute, but it was so real and raw. This read has such amazing characters in the girl group where each is unique in their own way and they always have each other’s backs and lifted each other up while keeping things real. Frankie is an amazing person yes she is confined to a wheel chair but she never allows that to define her. She is a doctor and helps others find themselves in many ways especially with her podcast and she makes sure to give every topic its due research by embracing and trying it all, so when a fan wants to know more about a certain kink well she goes to the guy who is kind of an expert on ropes. Jay hasn’t had an easy life and while his life is amazingly on track now he still doesn’t ever feel like he is enough to be more. Jay’s insecurities are made up by the sexiness, sweetness, and kindest person ever. He never sees Frankie as anything less than amazing, beautiful, smart, and talented. He sees she is easy to fall for and that scares him, but there is nothing that can stop the fall. Frankie and Jay are pure perfection together yet when the past rears its ugly head can they hold strong or will it cause Jay to walk away? This book was so good, so real, emotional, funny, it seriously had it all, and I can’t wait for more of these great friends!!!

Double the D
Capricorn Cove, Book 2

I Picked Up This Book Because: Honestly, not sure.

Media Type: eBook
Source: KindleUnlimited
Dates Read: 4/25/23 - 5/7/23
Stars: 4
Narrator(s):

The Characters:

Bluebell McKenney:
Drake Andrews:
Dane Butler:

The Story:

Quick, sweet and spicy. The author did a great job of telling so much back story in so few pages. My only complaint is I often couldn’t tell if Drake or Dane was talking but that might have just been a me problem.

The Random Thoughts:

Gunnar walks into a bar and sees the sexy woman ever. She's the bartender and owner of the bar/restaurant. Ella gets one look at him and she has fallen for her Viking. From day one they are attracted and eager for each other. Their attraction upsets Gunnar's brother who is waiting for Gunnar to return home from his vacation but Gunnar as other ideas. It all comes to a head when Gunnar is injured and Ella has to call his family and they come to town. Will all end up right in all their worlds?

I enjoyed this story a lot. I loved Gunnar and Ella and their instant attraction. I also chuckled over everything Ella expected falling into place. I liked that it was not a long period of time for this story to occur. It was fast and instant but felt so right. I liked how Gunnar's plans fell into place and the epilogues that showed what happened with them and their plans. It was beautiful.

I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Cute with issues
3 stars

This is the first Evie Mitchell book I’ve read, presumably recommended to me because I do have a fondness for an insta-love story of which this is one.

The story comes out swinging and we’re straight into the story. And straight into confusion for me. Was I supposed to know who these people were? It definitely appeared so. So much so, that I clicked back to check I’d started on the first story in the series. It *is* the first in this series, but it’s not until the end that I learnt that the family were first introduced in an earlier book called Thunder Thighs. Not to worry, I can cope.

With a lot of unnecessary convolutions, Erik becomes a single dad to twins. And his life implodes. His house almost does, too. Erik was a nice guy - big, strong and well, messy. He had a dirty mouth - which I liked - but other than that I can’t really tell you much about him.

Laura was a nice girl, too. I loved her drive to clean and organise - a girl after my own heart. Her reactions when she first laid eyes on Erik were amusing but again, I didn’t really feel I knew her all that much.

And that was my complaint about the story as a whole - there was a lot of tell and not a lot of show. We barely scratch the surface of these people or this story. As such, I felt little happened. A dirty man finds a clean lady, they like each other and get together. It was just missing something.

The punctuation was, well, questionable at best. It was irritatingly distracting. That and the smattering of editing errors and mistakes.

And good lord, if there wasn’t a red-headed “Scottish” bear of a man who will likely appear in a future story in this series. He was on the page very little and yet I was still cringing hard. Just no.

I enjoyed the story and read it through to the end - but it wasn’t one for me and I can’t say I’ll be picking up the rest of the series any time soon. But please read the other reviews because I seem to be the only person who had issues with the book and so you still might enjoy it more than I did. I would say 2.5 stars bumping up to 3.
