Carl Prescott is fifteen years old and a superhero! He developed special powers and defeated the beast in the previous book which saved the world. Today, he's on a first-name basis with God, Death, and the Devil. The Devil's daughter, Sylvia, once ruled demonic Romania from a castle that is currently buried under the Academy where Carl and his friends attend. She is intent on relocating it to its former location, which if successful, will destroy the Academy. Carl sets out to stop her.

The Demon Queen, Sylvia, is infatuated with Carl and he doesn't understand why. She is also intent on killing him and destroying the universe. If successful, a new universe will be born and Sylvia will be the new God and Ruler. Carl and his friends join up to thwart her plans, and some lose their souls to the Queen in the process. Meanwhile, Carl seeks the answers needed to save the universe and solicits help from the three ultimate beings to do so. There are many twists and turns along the way which keeps the readers guessing what happens next. Can Carl save and retrieve the lost souls?

Like his earlier book, the author changes scenes abruptly within every chapter and sometimes the story is difficult to follow. I also found several instances where words are missing within the story which caused me some pause. I would recommend that readers interested in this book read the preceding book first for the backstory. Otherwise, they may find CARL PRESCOTT AND THE DEMON QUEEN difficult to understand.… (meer)
