The Feb. 11 issue has an ad for tickets to Margaret Truman's singing appearance with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. Feb. 12 has a story about the Shah of Iran (yes, that one) marrying a 19-year old beauty. Feb. 15 has a story about Sugar Ray Robinson winning the Middleweight belt from Jake La Motta. Feb. 19 has a story about new OSU football coach, Woody Hayes. Feb. 28 has a piece about a "proposed school for negroes".… (meer)

This was my first stint on the staff of my college literary magazine. It did print three of my poems (one mediocre, two I still like quite a bit, notwithstanding the typos). My closest friend at the time, Larry Nolte, had several drawings selected (I've always liked his work, even if he himself can be hard to take). I thought the best work here belonged to another friend on staff, Willy Wood. One of his poems contained a line I'd love to use for a book someday: "What is a man, / something unbroken?". I may be biased, but I really felt we did a lot to improve the caliber of the magazine, and I felt it suffered after we left.… (meer)
