Korte biografie
Angelina Muñiz-Huberman was born in Hyères, France, to parents who had fled the Spanish Civil War. The family later moved to Mexico City. Angelina learned from her mother about her Sephardic Jewish ancestry and began to study Judaism, eventually undergoing a formal conversion. Her first novel, Morada interior, was published in 1972. In more than 20 other books, she has written on Jewish themes and others. Her nonfiction includes La lengua florida: antología sefardí (1989), an anthology of traditional Sephardi texts accompanied by her own essays on the subjects; and Las raíces y las ramas: fuentes y derivaciones de la Cábala hispanohebrea (1993), a study of Kabbalistic traditions in Jewish Iberia. Her poetry explores issues of identity, exile, gender, human nature, life and death. In addition to her writing career, she is also a professor of comparative literature at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México.
