It had been a long while since I had seen this movie last, and revisiting it all these years later makes me realize how brilliant it really is. The start can be a bit slow to get through, but once you get into the world of the story and get to know the characters, it really hits its stride. But beyond all that, what really makes this movie great is Robin Williams's truly wonderful voice performance as the Genie. He steals literally every scene he's in, and also steals a couple laughs each time too. I've got a newfound appreciation for this one after watching it now as an adult. Highly recommended.

Content Concerns: A little slapstick violence is really it.

While traveling the streets of Agrabah, seeking his next meal, Aladdin meets a beautiful Princess named Jasmine and falls in love. He also finds a magical lamp whose genie allows him three wishes. However, he meets his match with the evil Jafar along the way, which makes for a great adventure. Recommend.

Maybe my standards have been lowered by all the bad Disney movies we've been watching lately, but I found this to be fairly charming, and even a little suspenseful.½

A gorgeous looking film that retains the Disney charm and humour and does a splendid job with the key Silver/Hawkins relationship from the novel, but is missing the little extra on the plot front to make it truly memorable. It thus falls short of the top echelon of Disney animated classics, but that is a very high bar to clear -- this film is well worth your time even so.

I missed this film when it first came out so it was great to finally see it on TV. Feeling sad because of a loss, it was entertaining and cheerful enough to make me feel a little better.

The story is a bit bland and by the numbers, and while perfectly fine, as a result this is not really in the upper echelon of Disney films in my book. The music, though, is very good and incredibly catchy, and really lifts the film from the large "decent and OK" crowd of animated film, to being among the few that stay with you and feel quite memorable. It's still not in league with Disney's best offerings, but after nearly a century of animated feature film output, that might be an unreasonably high bar to ask it to clear. It's better than most, it's good fun, and I've bought the soundtrack.

An updated variation of "Treasure Island." Okay for the target audience of tweens and teens. The humor is much too broad for most adults, although my 30+ son likes it for just that reason.½

There's a strong sense of fun and charm that's sadly rare in Disney films from this era. It's also genuinely scary and intense in places.

Despite the stupid parrot, the anachronistic personal relationships, the implication that any cute young man you meet on the street can be trusted, and the innocently salacious clothing, it was fun.

“The Princess and the Frog” is Disney’s latest 2D-animated film and it’s first with a princess of color. It is set in 1920’s New Orleans, where Tiana is working hard to fulfill her father’s dream and open her own restaurant. After wishing on a star (and a little bit of voodoo) Tiana and Prince Naveen are turned into frogs and must brave the bayou to get back to being themselves.

Traditional 2D animation is what Disney does best, and this film is further proof of that. The animation is lively and energetic and the story combines the traditional Frog Prince tale with new morals, lessons and interesting details. Appropriate for all ages, best loved by K - 3rd grade.½
