Robyn lives just around the corner from Sam’s new house, and they become close friends. Sam is mostly well-behaved but Robyn is quite mischievous, and tends to take the lead in their escapades. The five chapters, each complete in itself, include one about a cat's birthday, and one about a stick insect getting lost in a classroom.
It’s nicely written with some low-key humour that should appeal to most young children. The book is apparently intended for those aged five or six who have started school, and who are beginning to develop reading fluency. However I read it aloud to my three-year-old grandson who liked it very much. Some of the classroom antics went over his head, but he liked the book although he didn’t want it all read at one sitting.… (meer)
