Eva was a school friend of Anne Frank before the war. Also Jewish, and by an extraordinary coincidence, went into hiding with her own family at the same time and were ultimately betrayed and sent to concentration camps where both Eva and Anne lost parents and siblings.
After the war, Eva and her mother returned to Amsterdam and met again with Anne Frank's father Otto, who had been neighbours in the same housing estate on the outskirts of Amsterdam. Otto was the sole survivor of his family so returned alone. Eva eventually moved to London to seek a career in photography and her mother and Otto Frank later married, making Eva Anne Frank's posthumous step-sister. (Fonte: Alan Newland)
