This is not a tutorial in how to become a BASIC programmer. This book's target audience is BASIC programmers who need help with their particular research interests.

This volume was written as a resource book to help a variety of researchers from a broad spectrum of disciplines make scientific forecasts about what the future holds. For example, forecasting applications include such far ranging subjects as the stock market, astronomy, weather, public opinion, modeling, simulation, and gambling.

The BASIC language utilities that appear in the book are meant to be embedded in larger programs the readers are coding.
