This cute and colorful book about fashions of the 1930’s would be great for readers interested in fashion design and history. Due to pages of rather dense text, this would be a good precursor to a chapter book. Nice additions in the back such as a timeline, glossary and internet addresses, but could have benefited from more development,especially the glossary terms. The photos inside are wonderful, but it would have been nice to see some bubbles/arrows that would define while reading along, such as an arrow pointing at a “spit curl” with the term nearby. Not sure the cover illustration really encompasses 1930’s fashion (pink plaid?) as much as the inside photos, but it is eye-catching. An especially desirable part of this book is the light discussion of women’s suffrage during the 1920’s and how fashion development was tied to changing social norms.… (meer)
