Edwina Norton

Disclosure: I have known the author for a number of years, was part of an interfaith dialogue which she promoted and helped lead, and admire her commitment to Zen and to her community. That said, this is a wonderful book, grueling to read at times because of the things she suffered throughout her life, but filled with wisdom and light and hope. Norton's candid discussions of her own perceived flaws and how through meditation and openness to Zen teaching she gains new insights and heals and reconciles are the heart of the book. I also enjoyed her descriptions of the monastery at Tassajara and the Zen training and disciplines required of its priests. My wife and I found so much to love in this book that we have sent many friends copies as holiday gifts. Give yourself this gift, too. Edie Norton is a remarkable woman and she has written a remarkable book.… (meer)
