Donald Oenslager

Includes three lectures Oenslager gave at the Univ. of Texas in 1975, and an exhibition catalog of the prints and drawings of stage designs Oenslager collected, including works by Peruzzi, Bibiena, Pozzo, Galliari, on up to Appia, Craig, Urban, Bel Geddes, R. E. Jones, Mielziner, Boris Aronson and Ming. The vast majority of works are quite architectural--lots of staircases, columns, arches, vaults, balustrades. The titles of the lectures: Artists in the theatre; The theatre in artists; Light as a force in the theatre. Oenslager died suddenly a few weeks later.… (meer)
