I thought of this book the other day after having read it a few years back and thought I'd give it my "thumbs up". There are some pretty good take-aways regarding economics-related things most of us deal with fairly often such as warranties and investing. I won't give them away here, however. You'll have to read the book to find out!
Written for the layman this book succeeds in explaining how to use economic principles to make financial decisions. 9 chapters dealing with fundamental questions such as what is economics, and moving on to to topics such as personal finance and personal spending. Each chapter is then addresses such questions as how much debt is ok, or what should I do when my mortgage is transferred from one bank to another. I found the answer to the question "Should I buy an extended warranty when I purchase a durable good ? useful.
This a book that you can give as a gift for a house warming present. Its not a pretty book but it is pretty useful and readable.… (meer)
