This was required reading for one of my undergraduate classes. My professor was friends with the author, so that might make it seem like a desperate sales attempt, but my professor truly believed this was a great book. After reading it, I'd have to agree. This is an interesting read, not at all dull, exploring the reasons why humans (some more than others) are fascinated with the idea of flying. Ogilvie uses real-life, well-known persons, including J.M. Barrie (author of Peter Pan) and Perry Smith (one of the killers profiled in Truman Capote's In Cold Blood), to explore this concept and test his own theories.½
