First of all, although it has that prominent "Parental Advisory" label on the cover, I thought I've seen more in other mainstream graphic novels. I guess it has more to do with the novelty of our protagonist and heroine being a professional dominatrix, in addition to being (what they call) a "ghost talker". But for those reading this book in hopes of getting a secret kink are in for a disappointment. Although the cover prominently displays Misaki in her "work" clothes, this series is primarily, through and through, about supernatural mysteries. Sort of like Ghost Hunters on the Sci Fi Chanel.
Each chapter is devoted to a single mystery/story, so this makes for each volume to have a small number of chapters, each pretty long. Volume one contains two chapters: Hanging Mansion (a story of random suicides all occurring in the same abandoned apartment room) and Bear Po (a mystery of a murdered child and her suicided mother).
So far, each chapter was pretty straightforward in terms of mystery and conclusion. Maybe once the series gets in its groove the plot will pick up its pace and we might also find more about everybody's past.
One additional point of fact. The main character, Saiki Misaki, in addition to being a SM paranormal specialist, is also an albino with white hair and red eyes. Unfortunately, this was not a fact that was made clear to the reader (other than the cover) due to the b/w nature of the art.
