This is another delightful art journal from Oliphant. This is like a hand-written, illustrated interview with the fictional Guilbert. It tells about his experiences with some local mermaids he started to study, how his actions put them at risk, and how he ends up saving the day. If you like Oliphant's art style, that's what will draw you in to these stories. This is the third of her mermaid books and they all have such charm! This is an adorable graphic novella about a woman on a cruise around different parts the world to see the different types of mermaids. Oliphant's art is beautiful and this is a type of book that you buy for the art, and the little story bringing it all together is a bonus. This is a modern adventure and she has another book set farther back in history (1800s or early 1900s, I can't recall). These are independently published, so the quality is not as stellar as it could be, but that's not the fault of the artist. I'd love to see these reproduced in higher quality, because her paintings are truly gorgeous. If you like to collect books about mermaids, especially books with art, I think this one's worth grabbing.… (meer)
