As a Southern woman, I am well-versed in the idea of comfort food. However, finding healthy ways to make this type of food is often a struggle. A lot of these recipes sound absolutely delicious and very close to the original. The only thing that would have made it even better would be for more photos to be included and for the recipes to be spaced out a bit so they are easier to read.
2.25 Stars A brief introduction to basic makeup. The ebook does include some helpful tips for someone new to using makeup, but some pictures for the different suggestions would have made this guide better. It's not comprehensive.
I found this short book to be short on new information and long on repetition. My disclaimer is, I cook real meals from scratch daily and have for years. Clean eating is not new to me; while I do consume some processed foods, these are not common in my diet. However, the generalities the author shared about getting started on clean eating would not help me if I was used to processed foods. There were few, if any, specific meal ideas and none that included recipes. There were many ideas shared as if they were truths about what is healthy, and a lack of proper references or explanations to support those ideas. In addition, there were many missing ideas that I believe make a difference in eating unprocessed foods - including the thought that the low-fat, low-sodium varieties are not necessarily any better than the normal variety (and in some cases may be worse), or that "all-natural" on a label does not fit the bill of clean eating in my cases. I was expecting more of these ideas, as well as some of the research into plant-based fibers and thickeners (such as carrageenan and all the gums that are used in so many "natural" foods that may not be as healthy as one might guess), as well as recipes for someone starting out on the clean eating journey to get started.
I received this book as part of the LibraryThing Member Giveaway program in exchange for my honest review.… (meer)
This is a good read for anyone who wants to buff up their knowledge and makeup skills. There were a few things mentioned that I wish the author had gone into more detail, and I also wish they maybe included pictures of the techniques. Other than that, good read.
