Loved this little book. I was privileged to visit this lighthouse on the barren California coast south of San Francisco less than 2 weeks ago, and have learned that if i visit an interesting place that i enjoy, and there are books available about the place in the gift shop, it is a wise purchase, at least for me. The whole aura of lighthouse living and the sometimes harsh conditions, and the seclusion from the rest of the world has always been intriguing.....along the line of my island obsession. Unfortunately for the tower, there are structural issues that facilitated removing the unbelievable lens system from the tower until repairs can be done. However, they put it on display in the fog-horn building and now we get to study its beauty at our leisure when visiting. Absolutely amazing!. This book had just enough detail, history and photographs from the times past to make it a fascinating quick read, cementing my visit much deeper in my memory than it would otherwise be.....and that is a good thing!… (meer)
