The stories were okay, most of them are amusing. The WW2 story, Medizinmann, was the most well-written one and not amusing at all, but very thought-provoking; perhaps a bit intense for younger children, although early teens can appreciate the rest of them. A good introduction to some of the heritage of mostly-European Jewish writing and culture. Because of the folkloric nature of all of them, I would not necessarily call them science-fiction, but they are not fantasy in the "epic magic" sense used today.
