This book is excellent if you are interested in the basics of what a Trivium education looks like and how it unfolds. This is a thin, litte blue book that Dr. Hart clearly put a lot of work into. If i remember right it is a publshing of a dissertation or clearly just a part of one. And in that way it is a labor of love and has much to offer the reader who knows nothing of what a Classical Education is or why one would want one. But if you have read Susan Wise Bauer's "A Well-Trained Mind" you already likely know or remember what this book describes. And unlike Bauer's book, this book doesn't explain in detail what it means to really experience this sort of education or why the one we are all getting know is so very sad and skeletal by comparison. But then dissertations aren't allowed to have passion in them and they tend to have a "just the facts" sort of feel anyhow. So this book is excellnt research, but it is not an interesting read in and of itself.… (meer)
