Love and sex in the underworld, need more to keep reading? This ancient Mesopotamian tale tells of the passionate relationship between Nergal, the rather restless god of war, and Ereshkigal, the female ruler of the dead. It is intense, and there is also some violence involved, although we cannot fully follow the story because we only have incomplete versions. This study presents these versions and explains them.
