Lots of interesting information and recipes from mid-century. Has listings of cooking terms which are helpful to the novice cook. Each chapter has a short introduction. Many recipes are written in a paragraph form rather than a list of ingredients first, which is slightly inconvenient for those in a hurry. There are no photos or illustrations, but directions are concise. I especially like the Salad and Vegetable chapters.
