A darling little children's picture book told with Bible verses makes this a lovely little read. Young readers will be sure to love it.

I voluntarily received and reviewed a complimentary e-book or physical copy of this book which I received from the author and/or publisher or blog tour coordinator All views expressed are only my honest opinion and are in no way influenced by others' views or wishes.

For a particular purpose this is a welcome Bible, but for a reference Bible or even for a general reading text Bible, this is probably not your best choice. "Notetaking Bible" means Wide Margin Bible -- HOWEVER, this Bible is described as having "Wide Margins" (plural) and that can be misleading to the Bible shopper -- note well: each page has ONE wide margin (singular), the inner, top, and bottom margins are not wide --the only way wide margins (plural) is true is if describing adding margins of multiple pages rather than multiple margins on any given page, since to emphasize, each page has only one wide margin. That said, if you are just taking notes, not writing headers, footers, and so on, this Bible may be great, because for starters, unlike other supposed wide margin Bibles, this one's margins are not cluttered with references, notes, diagrams for coloring, that end up taking the width right out of their supposed wide margins. Another positive is how this Bible has one of the floppiest flops in opening, none of this pushing down in the center and using a paperweight to keep it open stuff. The price is great and it seems durable (unlike Bibles that seem they will with minimum use crack or come unglued). Heads up: the pages are NOT WHITE, but yellowish ivory, which is fine if a cover-complementing, eye-pleasing aesthetic is important, but maybe not ideal for those who plan to highlight text (yellow on yellowish ivory doesn't work so great, though orange highlighting might). Finally, even though this is not a reference Bible, it does have a limited, but somewhat helpful, concordance at the back.

Pros and Cons. Pro: (1) the color - olive! (Compact Bibles typically have few color choices). (2) size - at a time when even rather large Bibles are carrying the "compact" title, it's refreshing to have some truth in advertising as to size, which is probably the main reason people by a compact Bible in the first place, Given the olive color and size, this would be a perfect Bible to place on a drink table or bedside table in a room with natural color decor, sky blue, sunset orange, plant greens, etc. (3) readability - dark on white, 8 point type (thus the "Large Print" - ie, large only for a compact), (4) price ($20)... Con: only barely qualifies as a "reference" Bible, (which is fine if like me, the buyer wants a small text Bible), the end of verse cross references are few and not so good (I'll explain), and the "Concordance" is topical, not a concordance for particular words. So the not so good cross references is a theological thing -- if you're dispensationalist, you'll find unhelpful references that supposedly connect similar verses, but actually could not be more opposite -- such as Daniel 9:27 (the Antichrist's covenant) supposedly (falsely) connecting to the covenant Messiah.½

Are you looking for a cute, interactive baby book all about Easter? Then this book is for you!

The illustrations are absolutely marvellous in this sweet book explaining all about Easter. Spring time flowers, baby animals, rain and all the joys of nature can be found in this little book. It's a cute book that doesn't focus a lot on story but instead is very pretty and introduces cute terminology. This simplistic book is absolutely delightful. I would say this is a great book to read to your very little ones, most likely aged three and under. It does have a pinch of religion at the end of the book, so if you aren't seeking anything about God then steer clear of this book.

Three out of five stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and B&H Publishing Group for providing me a free copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

The Holman Illustrated Bible Handbook is designed with an awareness of the obstacles people have to understanding the Bible. It begins with an essay on "How to Read and Study the Bible" before proceeding to chapters that provide a thorough overview of each of the Bible's 66 books, summarizing each one's content, author, evidences of authenticity, and historical context. In addition to the full-color maps, photographs, reconstructions, and charts that equip readers throughout the volume, a link is included for each chapter that leads to related online teaching from noted Bible scholar Gene Getz. There's also an article by Jeremy Howard (general editor of the award-winning HCSB Study Bible) explaining how each book of the Old and New Testaments was accepted into the Bible.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE
Each book of the Bible includes a page that answers the following questions: who wrote it, the targeted audience, and where, why and when it was written.

illustrations of foods, animals, and plants of the day, geographical, histories, archeology, the characters, facts, and QR codes for further reading. The back of the Bible has charts, a glossary, indexes, and maps. It has a satin ribbon attached to help mark last page read. My son loves it and constantly have questions and looking up for information for him. I found the Bible a great way to inspire him and gives him a better understanding of God’s word.

I love this Explore Bible for Kids. I think children should have a Bible they are proud to carry around and this is an excellent choice. And the thing is, it has the neatest thing inside they will want to explore it more and more. Some of what’s inside is really good book introductions, Christ in Context which is very interesting, Ribbon Marker, Presentation Page and much much more. The outside of the Bible is awesome, with the cool burst of colors on the front and back cover, and other illustrations inside. I just love this Bible for the kid in your life. I highly recommend this amazing Bible. I love the pictures of all of the food, plants and animals and much more. You have to get this Bible and read it for yourself to really get the idea of what all it contains. This will be the perfect Christmas gift for the kids in your life. I am giving this Bible Five Stars and I wish I could give it more.

Children using this Bible can truly become explorers! As they read this Christian Standard Bible version of God's Word, they're invited to learn about the history and culture of the time and place mentioned. There are color illustrations, timelines, maps, and actual photographs to encourage them to dig deeper. Children of this generation love technology so they will be drawn to the special QR codes that take them to videos, discussion questions, and activity pages. I especially liked that the introduction to each book of the Bible offers children the answers to the important "Who, What, When, and Why” questions and that the words spoken by Jesus are printed in red text.

The title implies that it's for kids but this CSB Explorer Bible for Kids is perfect for the whole family to use. It's a wonderful resource for both personal and church libraries and it would also be a perfect Christmas gift!

The Explorer Bible for Kids is a wonderful adventure Bible for readers who want to learn more about God’s Word and the world around them.

This hardback Christian Standard Bible (CSB) contains the entire biblical text (New and Old Testaments) with added illustrations and fascinating facts to help readers love and understand each book and apply what they learn to their everyday lives. The pages are sturdy, the font (9.5-Point) is easy to read, and words of Jesus are in red.

I love the youthful and colorful illustrations and how the book is organized. Introduction pages feature who, what, when, where, and why, and each Bible book contains colorful feature sections that encourage kids to dig in and explore further. Some of these sections are:
• Excavating the Past
• Exploring Creation
• Character Field Guides
• Christ in Context
• Charting History
• Discovering Truth

A few (partial) examples of the Exploring Creation sections:

What is seven inches long, has a 50-mile-per-hour punch, is as colorful as a rainbow, and is strong enough to break glass? It’s the PEACOCK MANTIS SHRIMP!

An average man can lift around 150 pounds. In 2016, the strongest man in the world broke a record by lifting 1,100 pounds. That’s heavier than a grand piano! Believe it or not, Samson was EVEN STRONGER.

It takes practice, training, and perseverance to become a better runner. The same is true for BUILDING YOUR FAITH.

The Explorer Bible offers so much:
• QR Codes to scan for videos and other activities
• Presentation Page for gift giving
• Attached Ribbon Marker
• Highlighted Verses
• Glossary
• Bible Story Index
• Topical Concordance
• QR Code Link Index
• Full-Color Maps

This book is marketed for kids 6-12, but I honestly feel teens and adults can gain knowledge, power, and inspiration from this unique Bible as well. I love reading God’s Word, I’m captivated by the explorer aspect, and I plan to read this Bible for Kids in its entirety this coming new year! Afterall, aren’t we all kids at heart?

Page Count: 1472
Reading Age: 6-12

Looking forward to the spring. Well, this book I found is just right. It is called Great and Small Easter. It is a good one to have on your little ones' bookshelves. It is a flap book. Which is good for the little one to open the flap.

You and your child can open the flaps and learn new animal sounds. I am rating this book 4.5 only because I got it in the format of a digital and not the board book. I could not open the flaps like in a physical copy. This one should be only in a physical copy and not a digital copy. Other than that this book is good.

The pictures are done well. The picture is pretty to look at. The rhyming is sweet. The animals that are shown tell about a new spring and holiday is about. It is not too complicated. If I had received his book in the physical copy I would have reviewed it and then sent it to my little cousin who would be enjoying them.

I do enjoy these little flap books. They can be enjoyed by all and little ones throughout the year. Any child or children would enjoy opening the flaps and learn different animal sounds or sounds that deal with the spring-like weather.½

Little Words Matter Jumbo Coloring Book is a coloring book. It got different activities for children to do in it. There words and pictures to color. To tracing a letter. There is also Connect the dots activities in the book. There are many different activities for children from ages toddlers to kindergarten to maybe even elementary school.

I do not know if the contributor had this in mind when they release this, what good timing to have this release around when a pandemic has made us have to social distance. I know the Coronavirus did not make this to happen as it did. No one saw it coming well mostly us citizens.

With schools closed and kids home with their family. This looks to be a good time to get your young children and toddlers to color and learn at the same time. This is no different than before only know it just seems like it a good to have. Parents that home school or even do not but have to do so now. This is a way to have your little one be entrained and learn will teaching your other children as well.

God's Book of Proverbs is the book of Proverbs arranged topically all in one little book which allows the reader quick access to look up and apply the knowledge and insights of the scripture.

There is also an article "Connecting Wisdom to Jesus" by Trevin Wax explaining how Jesus is the source where our wisdom comes from. The reader will also find an article on how to read the Proverbs.

The scriptures in God's Book of Proverbs is in the Christian Standard text (CSB); which is easy to read and understandable, and stays as literal as possible to the Bible's original meaning. This is my preferred translation.

This book would be very useful for those sharing God's word, for writing messages, for Bible study and personal reference. Small and light enough to carry with you where ever you go.

The Old Testament is filled with battles — battles for freedom for God’s people and battles that were brought about by the people’s disobedience. Regardless of the cause, God’s hand was in the midst of the conflict. Seek-And-Circle Bible Battles captures all the action of six battles and provides an interactive way for your child to engage with God’s word. There’s plenty of action, but nothing gory, as your child searches for specific objects. For example, in the Battle of Jericho, there are chickens, a goose, and a campfire to circle. Each two-page scene vividly depicts the scripture. There is an added bonus as your child learns about the ongoing battle that Christians face in their day to day lives and the way God provides protection through His armor. A Christ Connection ties Jesus to the Old Testament scripture. This book is for both children and their parents, opening discussions about God and can be enjoyed over and over with wipe-off markers. I think boys especially will enjoy Seek-And-Circle Bible Battles, but I recommend it for all kids ages 5-10.

Recommended.

Audience: kids and their parents.

This little volume is quite a gem! The book contains every single verse of the book of Proverbs broken down into 60 categories. Examples of some of the topics are Integrity, Purity, Friendship, Anger, and Marriage. Since some verses contain multiple themes, those verses appear in each applicable category. God's Book of Proverbs uses the Christian Standard Bible (CSB) translation of Scripture so depending on which version you're used to reading, you may find the text slightly different.

The book is quite small; only 6.5 by 4.5 inches (16.51 cm by 11.43 cm). It is a 224-page hardcover volume and also has a handy bookmark ribbon. The cover has a nice fabric sort of feel to it and the version I received also had a half slipcover. While one could read the book straight through, I found it quite a nice practice to choose a particular category which either corresponded to my feelings during a particular day or was a topic that I wished to explore. I would then read through several of the verses in that category.

This pocket-sized book is perfect for gifting as well as for personal encouragement. The way the text is arranged makes it easy to dip into various topics on a daily basis and be encouraged by the wisdom of God's Word. In addition to the Topic Listing in the front of the book, it also contains an extensive index of specific terms and ideas which allows the reader to go a bit deeper into a particular topic.

The publisher provided me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As James 1:5 states, anyone wanting wisdom need only ask God. And isn’t it wonderful that God gave us an entire book in the Bible with nuggets of wisdom that fit any and all situation or circumstance that we could encounter? The folks at B&H Publishing have taken the scripture found in the book of Proverbs and arranged it topically in God’s Book of Proverbs. For use as a reference or word study, this book is divided into 60 topics including conflict, friendship, marriage, peace, and self-control. There is also an index at the back that helps a reader to find just what he or she is looking for. Useful for anyone who wants to discover the wisdom of God, I think God’s Book of Proverbs would be make an excellent gift for a new graduate too.

Recommended.

Audience: teens to adults.

This book complies and sorts the wisdom of the whole book of Proverbs (Using the CSB translation) by topic. So you can look up wisdom on Anger, Conflict, Deception, the Heart, Money, Laziness…etc. The version I have is a beautifully bound hardcover with an elegant design using shades of tan. The inside is very nice and elegant as well.

I really like the emphasis, in the introduction to this compilation, though wisdom is an excellent thing to have, on it's own it will not bring you happiness and salvation. "King Solomon, the man responsible for most of the sayings in this book, was considered the wisest man in history…..Even so, Solomon disregarded some of the wisdom God gave him…" We need more than just knowledge of the right, we need the right Person to make us holy and put His law in our hearts.

What I didn't quite get in the intro, though, was the statement that "The entire message of the Bible, including this book of Proverbs, is summarized like this:….(after quoting John 3:16)…By turning from our sin and trusting in Jesus, the one who became wisdom from God for us, we can know true wisdom now and be assured of living in God's presence forever." I don't think that someone would get that message from just reading the book of Proverbs…. The book of Proverbs turns us to God but doesn't directly tell us that we cannot follow its wisdom without Christ. But perhaps I'm just being too nit-picky here.

Anyway, this is a really handy book to have. Feeling lonely and as if you don't have enough friends? Turn to the Friendship section, in it you will find that "One with many friends may be harmed but there is a friend who stays closer than a brother." Feeling rather proud of yourself today? In the section on pride you will be reminded that "Pride comes before destruction and an arrogant spirit before a fall."

This book would make a great graduation present!

Many thanks to the folks at B&H Bloggers for sending me a free review copy of this book! My review did not have to be favorable.

Title: God’s Book of Proverbs (Biblical Wisdom Arranged by Topic)
Author: B & H Editorial Staff
Pages: 224
Year: 2018
Publisher: B & H Books
My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
This is a very unique way to arrange the Proverbs that are handy to find words of wisdom from the book of Proverbs that focus on many topics. The Bible version used is the Christian Standard Bible that is very easy to read and helps to meditate on the topic. Readers are encouraged to be mark key words, and can write notes and thoughts that God brings to mind.
I believe this would be a very useful tool for lay counselors and mentors, pastors, professional counselors and new believers or even seekers of the truth. The small compact size makes carrying around the book quite handy when a person finds a few minutes or hours to read the Word of God in their daily life.
I am thinking the verses are just a beginning place to start understanding Proverbs by topic, but I hadn’t seen this format done before and found it a handy book to keep close for wisdom. The book can be given for any reason, to any person close by or sent to someone who lives far away as it encourages and exhorts us to live our lives in a way that brings God glory.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. 1,2,3 God Made Me is more than a preschool counting book or a book to help kids recognize parts of their body. Its colorful illustrations that include a diverse group of kids and the message that God is our creator make this board book a perfect way to introduce God’s love. I loved the inclusion of complimentary Bible verses — it’s never to early to introduce scripture memorization!
