I received a free e-copy of this book for an honest review.
The Wisherman was an interesting read. I enjoyed the premise behind it, but was confused about where it was going from the beginning. As the story progressed, it made a little more sense, but still did not completely answer my questions, and a very large cliffhanger at the end. It wasn't until I finished the book and read the "About the Author" section, that it made sense, since this book is the first in an unnamed series.
Overall an ok book.… (meer)

This is not a book I would usually read. I will be the first to admit that I do judge book by the cover, and the name. I always read the description of the book as well. While the cover leaves a lot to be desired, the story takes that away. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. This was one of those just one more page books for me.
This sstory follows a teen boy. Oliver is not a normal teenager anymore. Oliver has a unique ‘gift’ and it starts to cause him trouble. He was suspected to have a hand in a tragedy that sturck his entire family. He is shipped off to a school that specalizes in boys with "gifts" like Olivers. The school is not what it seems and Oliver and his friends set out to expose the truth. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone. I hope the author keeps up with the series.
You should add this book to your TBR list. I look forward to reading more bu Danielle Racey.

Although the beginning is a bit confusing, when things start to come together this becomes a well paced and entertaining novel with an interesting look at kids with "special abilities." The narrator is likable and the other characters are well drawn as well. Although it is clearly the first book in a series, the ending is satisfying enough to read as a stand alone, unlike some serials that leave you in limbo at the end. My only criticism is that the abilities that Oliver and his friends have are only touched upon, leaving too many things unexplained. A little more development in this area would have been more interesting.… (meer)

Another part that is probably just me being picky was that some descriptions were copied word for word in a later section of a book, like the way Oliver describes the facial expressions of two people. There are other ways that it could be described without repeating the same phrases, or just simplify it since we don't need so many drawn-out descriptions.
Once I was able to figure out this author's writing style, I did find the story enjoyable. The author does do a good job of building up suspense and using foreshadowing. It's the beginning of a series so though the book left me with a lot of questions, I imagine they'll be answered in the coming books. I don't understand how the prologue fits in but maybe that has something to do with the rest of the series as well.… (meer)
